    Abstract: Procedimiento para eliminar sustancias córneas de pieles o pellejos animales muertos por tratamiento de las pieles o pieles de pellejo en un bano acuoso con uno o varios compuestos de la fórmula general (1) o sus correspondientes sales de metal alcalino o alcalinotérreo o sales de amonio o fosfonio, teniendo las variables las definiciones siguientes: R1 es seleccionado de entre hidrógeno o alquilo C1-12, no sustituido o sustituido por uno o varios grupos S-H u O-H; X1a X4 son radicales iguales o diferentes y son seleccionados de entre: hidrógeno, alquilo C1-4, O-H, S-H o N-HR2; R2 significa hidrógeno o alquilo C1-12 o un grupo alquilo C1-4, -C=O, siendo preciso, que cuando R1 contiene por lo menos un átomo de azufre, por lo menos uno de los radicales X1 a X4 signifique S-H; Y que cuando R1 no contiene ningún átomo de azufre, por lo menos dos de los radicales X1 a X4 signifiquen S-H. Pieles en tripa de animales obtenidas mediante el procedimiento descripto y cueros fabricados por curtición de dichas pieles en tripa. Banos residuales, que contienen ni Na2S ni NaHs y que contienen como compuestos de azufre orgánicos únicamente aquellos de la fórmula general (1), así como sus productos de reacción y derivados resultantes de la eliminación de las sustancias córneas y compuestos de azufre de pieles o pieles de pellejo de animales muertos.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the production of a multilayered composite element which comprises a layer of leather, a layer of a hard component formed from a polymer, which is bonded to the leather layer in certain areas, and a layer of a soft component, which is arranged between the leather component and the hard component, which comprises laying the leather against one mold surface of a mold, positioning the soft component on the leather, and molding the polymer acting as hard component onto the leather layer and the soft component layer at a pressure of at least 50 bar, preferably greater than 100 bar, in particular greater than 180 bar, and at a temperature of greater than 100° C., preferably from 180 to 280° C., in particular from 200 to 250° C., by bonding the leather and the hard component to one another in certain areas at least, with temperature of the mold surface of the mold being controlled, at least during the bonding. The invention furthermore relates to a composite element obtainable by the process. The composite element is extremely robust, has a soft touch surface and is inexpensive to produce.

    Abstract: A semifinished leather product is produced from an animal hide by pretanning with the use of a chromium-free tanning agent and of a clay mineral which, after stirring for 30 minutes in water at 50° C. at a circumferential rotor speed of from 5 to 25 m/s, has a number average particle diameter of less than 2 μm or a bimodal particle size distribution with a first, finely divided fraction whose number average particle diameter is less than 0.5 μm and a second, coarser fraction whose number average particle diameter is less than 5 μm, determined in each case by the method according to ISO 13320-1, by combined laser light diffraction and light scattering, a proportion of the first, finely divided fraction being from 10 to 90% by weight, and drying of the pretanned animal hide to a water content of from 5 to 45%, based on the total weight of the semifinished leather product.
