Abstract:
Described are improved apparatus and devices for intermittently and sequentially compressing a body site and methods for using said apparatus and devices, especially for site specific treatment to achieve a desired temperature of the underlying tissue. The apparatus includes a first segment cooperative with a fluid chamber, the fluid chamber adapted for inflation by fluid; and a second segment cooperative with the first segment, the second segment housing a temperature sensitive material, wherein the temperature sensitive material is uniquely compartmentalized in the second segment.

Abstract:
A resuscitation system for use in resuscitation of cardiac arrest victims includes an ECG monitor programmed to monitor an organized, non-shockable rhythm of an electrocardiogram (ECG) signal from a patient undergoing lifesaving cardiac care; a processor programmed to identify a time during an electrocardiographic cycle of the ECG signal during which a vulnerable period for risk of fibrillation induction of the ECG will occur; and control circuitry for generating signals to cause a parameter descriptive of chest compressions to be modified so as to minimize risk of induction of fibrillation during the vulnerable period.
Abstract:
A motion assistance device has a biological signal detection means for detecting a biological signal from the wearer of the device; a motion assistance device installation member having a drive source for applying torque acting to the wearer by use of each joint of the wearer as a rotating shaft; a control means for controlling the drive source to generate torque corresponding to the biological signal detected by the biological signal detection mean; a drive torque estimation means for estimating the drive torque generated by the drive source; a joint angle detection means for detecting angular displacement of a joint; and a parameter identification means for substituting the drive torque estimated by the drive torque estimation means and the angular displacement detected by the joint angle detection means into an equation of motion to specify the wearer-specific dynamics parameter, the equation relating to the entire system and including wearer-specific dynamics parameter. The control means controls the drive source according to a predetermined control method, based on the equation of motion into which the dynamics parameter identified by the parameter identification means is substituted.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a handheld body care appliance, including: a body (2) including a gripping area (Zp); a treatment head (3) to be applied to or next to the skin and including an electrically activated treatment means (4); a means (10) for detecting the proximity of the skin to the treatment head; and an electronic control unit (UC) suitable for at least authorising the operation of the treatment means if skin (P) is detected near the treatment head (3). According to the invention, the appliance includes a means (20) for detecting the presence of a hand on the gripping area (Zp) and the electronic control unit (UC) is suitable for at least authorising the operation of the treatment means (4) if skin (P) is detected near the treatment head (3) and a hand is detected on the gripping area (Zp) at the same time.
Abstract:
A sonic percussion therapy system includes a patient support apparatus and a control module. The sonic percussion structure is attached to the inflatable cell so that the sonic percussion structure moves in response to movement of the inflatable cell. The control module includes a sonic percussion control module and a position control module. The sonic percussion control module independently controls frequency and/or intensity of at least one of the plurality of sonic percussion structures. The position control module selectively raises and lowers at least one of the plurality of sonic percussion structures with respect to a patient surface.
