    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a hair tonic having excellent hair-nourishing activity to various alopecia independent of symptom or individual difference by including a glyceryl etherified polyhydric alcohol. CONSTITUTION: This hair tonic contains a compound expressed by formula I (R is a 6-22C alkyl, an alkenyl or an alkoxyalkyl; R is H or expressed by formula II) in an amount of 0.0001-20wt.%, preferably 0.01-10wt.% as an active component. Otherwise, the hair tonic may be jointly used with a hematogenic accelerator, an antibacterial agent, a cuticle-dissolving agent, an anti-seborrhea agent, a local stimulating agent, an anti-inflammatory agent, a humectant, an anti-androgenic hormone agent or a hair follicle activator, etc., in an amount of 0.001-5wt.% for enhancing the hair-nourishing effect. Furthermore, the objective cosmetic is suitably mixed with an additive used in an usual cosmetic and mainly prepared in a formulation of lotion. A formulation of cream or gel is also possible. A liquid agent is preferably mixed with a carbon dioxide gas and adjusted to pH4.5-6.5.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain the hair-treating agent composition containing a specific N-alkyl-2-amino-3-mercaptopropionic acid amide derivative or its salt as a reducing agent, having an excellent waving effect and an excellent wave-holding property, and also high in safety. CONSTITUTION: The hair-treating agent contains an N-alkyl-2-amino-3- mercaptopropionic acid amide derivative of formula 1 (R is 1-4C alkyl) or its salt. Either of the (R) isomer, racemic isomers and (S) isomer of the compound of formula 1 may be used as the compound of formula 1. The compound of formula 1 is obtained e.g. by reacting a cysteine alkyl ester of formula 2 (R is lower alkyl) or its salt with an amine of formula 3. The composition has an excellent waving effect, an excellent wave-holding property, a low hair- damaging property, a low smelling property, a low flaking property, and high safety, and is useful as the first agent for a permanent-waving agent or as the first agent for a curly hair-correcting agent.

CONSTITUTION: This hair-tonic and hair-growing agent contains extract of OUGI (root of Astragalus huantchy). The OUGI extract is preferably used usually in the form dissolved in water or a solvent such as water-lower alcohol mixture and the amount of the extract is preferably 0.001-10wt.%, especially 0.03-3wt.% in dry basis in the hair-tonic and hair-growing agent. The OUGI extract may be used singly or, for further improving the hair-growing effect, it may be compounded with 0.001-5wt.%, especially 0.01-3wt.% of a component selected from a blood circulation accelerator, antimicrobial agent, keratolytic agent, antiseborrheic agent, local stimulant, anti-inflammatory agent, humectant, anti-male hormone agent and hair follicle activator. The blood circulation accelerator is e.g. extract of Swertia japonica, vitamin E, cepharanthine or phthalides and the antimicrobial agent is e.g. octopyrox, benzalkonium chloride or salicylic acid.
