    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for the whole bridge frequency converter which has controllable switches, an operating method of the controller, and a power source using the controller or the method. SOLUTION: In the case of an embodiment mode, this controller includes a signal generator circuit 1 which is so designed to drive controllable switches in a phase shift mode, and a switching network 2 connected with the signal generator circuit. In the phase shift mode 2a, the controllable switches of a first and a second leg parts are switched in a complementary mode, and the signal generator circuit can adjust a relative phase between the first and the second leg parts. In an ordinary mode 2b, a pair in the diagonal line direction of the controllable switches are switched almost at the same time and almost in the whole duty cycle. A signal generator can operate a converting device in the phase shift mode 2a or the ordinary mode 2b.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a module that is used for an optical fiber management system or an exclusive system. SOLUTION: The module has an optical transmitter and an optical monitor, transmits a test signal through an optical fiber network and receives the same signal through different fibers in the optical fiber network. The maintainability of various paths of the optical fiber network can be spatially and efficiently discriminated through transmission/reception of the test signal. The module is provided also with a microprocessor which reads data with respect to the test signal as it is transmitted and reads the same test signal as it is received. The data may be read by an external shelf controller. The shelf controller utilizes the data from the microprocessor for the analysis with respect to a loop state of the optical fiber as well as a laser.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for making an integrated circuit with a small feature size. SOLUTION: The method for making an integrated circuit includes formation of an aluminum layer close to a semiconductor wafer, and formation of a photo- resist layer close to the aluminum layer at least a part of it is not covered by the photo-resist layer. The method exposes the photo-resist layer to a pattern image, develops the photo-resist being exposed by using a developer, eliminates a part of the photo-resist not being exposed, and specifies a mask that includes the mask feature with a narrower width than the width of features being processed by another method. The narrow width is a result of the interaction among the photo-resist, the developer, and aluminum. The method etches the aluminum layer using the mask and can specify the circuit feature, the critical dimension of which is smaller than that of the feature being processed by another method.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a configuration/method by which the dynamic range of a transmitted signal can be made flat so as to minimize return loss. SOLUTION: The above task can be solved by providing a digital pre- distorted filter in a data access device DAA in a MODEM chip set. Placing the pre-distorted filter at the outside of the DAA attains digital processing such as digital emulation of the impedance of a central station, thereby avoiding the effect by giving pre-distortion to a transmission signal. In the case of a digital emulation filter, placing the pre-distorted filter to the outside of an (A/D) loop/(D/A) loop can minimize noise.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a finite state machine capable of encoding the n-pieces of the individual states of the machine by using the set of the n-pieces of different elements and simplifying the decoding of the states. SOLUTION: In this finite state machine, transition between the individual states is executed by selectively turning a bistable circuit to 1 state by using a transition circuit activated by the positive transition of asynchronous spiking input for example. In an example execution form, the positive transition is capacitively connected to a switch, the switch connects the complementary output of a bistable element to the ground and thus, the normal output of the element is brought closer to a voltage corresponding to the 1 state. In a second example execution form, by the combination of path transistors, a capacitor is maintained at the normal output voltage of the bistable element of the 1 state until spiking input signals arrives. By the combination of the voltage on the capacitor and the spiking input signals, the complementary output of a different bistable element is connected to the ground and thus, the different bistable element is switched on.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an element having an electric contact formed from an alloy having improved wear resistance. SOLUTION: The alloy is particularly useful for a microrelay formed by an MEMS technique. In one executing mode, sufficient precipitation hardening improves its wear resistance, but, the alloy is selected so as to maintain the electrical conductivity to the level lower than that in which the precipitation is reduced to a degree which is not allowable. As the alloy, at least one among rhodium, platinum, palladium, gold and ruthenium is contained. This is attained by an alloying material which has extremely limited solid solution properties in noble metal lattices, e.g. a solid solution degree lower than 4 wt.% or does not have solid solution properties. In a second executing mode, the alloy contains noble metal lattices 50 and dispersive particles 52 insoluble in the lattices, and these dispersive particles provide similar strengthening mechanisms.

SOLUTION: This mixture comprises a thermoplastic elastomer base, a conductive material having a matrix of conductive element and a fife-retardant material. In one specific example, the mixture comprises a styrene-ethylene-butylene- styrene(SEBS) plastic material combined with antimony trioxide and a metal- coated graphite fiber. In one specific composition, the mixture comprises about 10-20% based on volume of the mixture of antimony trioxide, about 5-25% based on volume of the mixture of the metal-coated graphite fiber and the rest of volume of the mixture of the base elastomer material.
