Abstract:
A system and process scans a target area at a distance of 3-30 m for one or more materials. Scanning is performed by a coherent transmit beam aimed with the help of a thermal camera. The active source of the beam is a supercontinuum (SC) laser. The transmitted source beam is modulated by a high-speed Fourier-transform spectrometer prior to interaction with the target. Target reflected source beam is detected by an infrared detector, along with a reference portion of the transmitted source beam, as a series of interferograms; passed through a digitizer for digitizing the interferograms; and processed to producing spectrograms, wherein the spectrograms are indicative of one or more materials on the target.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides antibodies that are useful for preventing and/or treating malaria. The epitope to which the antibodies bind is in close proximity to the conserved proteolytic cleavage site of P. falciparum circumsporozoite protein (CSP), and the antibodies provided in this disclosure can prevent cleavage and inhibit P. falciparum sporozoites from invading the liver.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides materials and methods for cell-free expression of epitopes for immunotherapy applications. In particular, the present disclosure provides materials and methods for expressing concatenated epitopes using a cell-free protein synthesis platform for high throughput, large scale, and unbiased epitope screening and the generation of multi-epitope vaccines.
Abstract:
The Adaptable Pulse Position Modulation (APPM) optical communication system and process facilitate wireless communications through turbid mediums including, but not limited to, smoke, airborne dust, mist, fog, clouds, water, seawater and water-to-air (air-to-water) interfaces by controlling the signal gain at the optical detector and controlling of the signal encoding to allow high data rate operation when the signal to noise ratio is high. The system also supports signal encoding redundancy to maintain good connectivity at the cost of the communication channel data rate as the signal to noise degrades.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides peptide conjugates that are useful for inhibiting the progression of a hyperproliferative disorder, inhibiting the progression of sepsis, inhibiting the progression of an infectious disease, enhancing a response to a vaccine, or inhibiting the progression of a synucleinopathy.
Abstract:
A low power mass spectrometer assembly includes at least an ionization component, an electrostatic analyzer, a lens assembly, a magnet assembly and at least one detector located in a same plane as the entrance to the magnet assembly for detecting the deflected sample ions and/or fragments of sample ions, including ions or ion fragments indicative of the Vitamin D metabolite within the sample.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides peptides which have a strong affinity for the checkpoint receptor "programmed death 1" (PD-1). These peptides block the interaction of PD-1 with its ligand PDL1 and can therefore be used for various therapeutic purposes, such as inhibiting the progression of a hyperproliferative disorder, including cancer, treating infectious diseases, enhancing a response to vaccination, and treating sepsis.
Abstract:
The invention provides virus-based expression vectors comprising immune-checkpoint inhibitor inserts for use as effective adjuvants in enhancing T-cell priming to an antigen in a host during a vaccination regimen. In particular, the compositions described herein are novel recombinant modified vaccinia Ankara (MVA) viral constructs encoding one or more peptides which, upon administration, are expressed in a multimer conformation and subsequently cleaved and secreted from the cell. Such peptides are capable of downregulating an immune checkpoint pathway, for example, by inhibiting the activation of programmed-cell death protein 1 (PD-1), programed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1), cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 (CTLA-4), or another immune checkpoint regulator, or a combination thereof. When used in concert with the administration of an antigen during a vaccination strategy, the immune checkpoint expressing MV A viral construct provides significantly improved antigen-specific CD8+ T cell expansion, increased antigenic responses, and improved vaccination efficacy.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides peptides which bind to LAG3 and can be used to block the interaction of LAG 3 with other molecules such as MHC-II, FGL1, and α-synuclein. These peptides can be used for various therapeutic purposes, such as inhibiting the progression of a hyperproliferative disorder, including cancer, or inhibiting the progression of a synucleinopathy, inhibiting the progression of sepsis, inhibiting the progression of an infectious disease, and enhancing a response to a vaccine.
Abstract:
A system for collecting data from multiple sensors at a central node is described. The system includes multiple pairs of sensor array multiplexers (SAMs) and sensors connected in series along the length of two cables each having a twisted wire pair. A first end of the length of the two cables is connected to the central node for receiving data from each of the multiple pairs. The multiple pairs include sensors of at least two different types, which may have different sampling rates. The first cable carries timing data between the multiple pairs and the central node and the second cable carries sensor data between the multiple pairs and the central node.
