Abstract: A robot cleaner and a control method using the same are provided to automatically and accurately clean a new cleaning area without an additional control of a user by writing a new map corresponding to the new cleaning area when the cleaner is transferred by kidnap. A robot cleaner comprises a control unit(180) making a position map for a cleaning area; a travel drive unit for guiding the robot cleaner to travel by the position map; a dust suction unit(110) for cleaning dust or impurities on a floor; a travel sensor(140) installed to sense whether the robot cleaner travels or not; a floor sensor(150) mounted to detect a gap between the floor and the robot cleaner; and a direction angle detector(160) mounted to detect a direction angle of the robot cleaner. The control unit receives a signal output through the travel sensor, the floor sensor, and the direction angle detector, and judges the kidnapping condition of the robot cleaner when the robot cleaner is transferred by kidnaps.
