Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and a method for controlling coolant in a vehicle engine which stores heat by holding some coolant in an additional heat storage member when turning off the engine after heating the engine and which quickly warms up the engine using heat-containing coolant at the time of cold start. For this, the invention provides the system and method for controlling coolant in the vehicle engine which comprise a heat storage container and a coolant circulation control unit. The heat storage container made of insulation materials is connected to a coolant circulation line of a cylinder head to be opened and closed. The coolant circulation control unit provides the coolant in the heat storage container to the coolant circulation line of the cylinder head when the temperature of the cylinder head is lower than the temperature of the coolant in the heat storage container after turning off the engine and supplies the coolant in the coolant circulation line of the cylinder head to the heat storage unit when the temperature of the coolant in the coolant circulation line is below a certain value at the time of cold start.
