    Abstract: PURPOSE: A tester of a heat flux measuring sensor is provided to test precision of heat flux by using a heat sink having an air duct and a blower fan. CONSTITUTION: A tester(30) of a heat flux measuring sensor includes a cartridge heater(32), an Al bar(34), a thermocouple(36) and a heat sink(38). The cartridge heater generates heat by power supply and transfers the heat to the Al bar. The Al bar is combined with the cartridge heater and attached to ceramic through a hole(42) of a steel plate(40). The Al bar has ceramic-coated(44) outside to insulate heat. The thermocouple is mounted at a measuring hole(46) for measuring heat flux. The heat sink has an air duct(48) for blowing air toward a side of the Al bar and a blower fan(50) for blowing air through the air duct. The thermocouple decides exact measurement of heat flux by air blowing through the heat sink. Therefor, the optimization test of a cooling system is performed as the measurement is applied to visualization test of the engine cooling system.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A rotatingly opened and shut off thermostat is provided to improve the efficiency of an engine at a high rpm/high load range and a cooling system by reducing the flow resistance of cooling water. CONSTITUTION: A thermostat comprises a disk valve(3) opening and closing a section of a cooling passage(2) within 90 degrees, a rotating shaft(4) rotating the disk valve, a pinion gear(5) fixed on one end of the rotating shaft, a rack gear(6) engaged with the pinion gear for transmitting linear motion as rotational motion, a spindle(7) extended from the rack gear, a pellet(8) surrounding the end of the spindle, and a return spring(10) elastically supporting the front end of the rack gear. If wax(9) in the pellet expands due to the temperature rising of cooling water, the spindle is pushed out and the rack gear rotates the pinion gear. The disk valve is rotated via the rotating shaft and the cooling passage is opened in parallel with the flow of the cooling water. Thus, the cooling water flows into a radiator via the open passage. If the temperature of the cooling water falls, the wax contracts and the rack gear moves backwardly by the return spring. The rear end of the spindle is seized in the pellet and the pinion gear rotates to make the disk valve close the cooling passage. Thus, the cooling water circulates through a water jacket of an engine. As the disk valve is fully opened and closed, the flow resistance of the cooling water is reduced. Therefore, the engine and a cooling system having high efficiency at a high rpm/high load range.
