Propylene terpolymers are prepared by polymerizing propylene, ethylene and an alpha-olefin selected from the group of C4-C8 alpha-olefins in the presence of a catalyst system obtained by contacting a solid catalyst component comprising a magnesium halide, a titanium compound having at least a Ti-halogen bond and at least two electron donor compounds one of which being present in an amount from 40 to 90% by mol with respect to the total amount of donors and selected from succinates and the other selected from 1,3 diethers, an aluminum hydrocarbyl compound, and optionally an external electron donor compound.

Process for the preparation of solid particles of a magnesium-chloride alcohol adduct comprising (a) forming an emulsion between a MgCI 2 ·alcohol adduct in molten form and a liquid phase which is immiscible with the said adduct in the presence of a polyalkyl-methacrylate used as a solution having viscosity ranging from 100 to 5000 mm 2 /s and (b) rapidly cooling the emulsion to solidify the disperse phase and collecting the solid adduct particles.

The present invention relates to catalysts component for the polymerization of ethylene and its mixtures with olefins CH 2 =CHR, wherein R is an alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl radical having 1-12 carbon atoms, comprising Ti, Mg, halogen, and electron donor belonging to 1,2-diethers as internal electron donor compound. The catalyst of the invention is suitably used in (co)polymerization processes of ethylene to prepare (co)polymers having narrow Molecular Weight Distribution (MWD) and high bulk density.

A Prepolymerized catalyst component for the polymerization of olefins comprising a solid catalyst component which comprises Mg, Ti, and chlorine atoms and an electron donor (ID) said prepolymerized catalyst component being characterized by the fact that: - the electron donor (ID) is constituted by at least 80%mol of 1,3 diethers with respect to the total molar amount of electron donor compounds; -the prepolymerized catalyst has a porosity due to pores with diameters up to Ιμιη of less than 0.2 cm3/g; -it contains an amount of ethylene prepolymer of less than 45% with respect to the total weight of prepolymerized catalyst.

Catalyst component comprising Mg, Ti, and halogen atoms, and is characterized in that (a) the Ti atoms are present in an amount higher than 4% based on the total weight of the said catalyst component, (b) the amount of Mg and Ti atoms is such that the Mg/Ti molar ratio is higher than 2 and (c) by a X-ray diffraction spectrum, in which, in the range of 2θ diffraction angles between 47° and 52°, at least two diffraction lines are present at diffraction angles 2θ of 48.3 ± 0.2°, and 50.0 ± 0.2°, the most intense diffraction lines being the one at 2θ of 50.0 ± 0.2°, the intensity of the other diffraction line being equal to or lower than the intensity of the most intense diffraction line.
