    Abstract: Method for applying integrated pre-treatment layers with a thickness of 1-25 mu m, comprises applying cross linkable preparation on the metallic surface and thermally- and/or photochemically cross linking the layer, where the preparation contains e.g. corrosion protection agent, which is a copolymer from (a) monoethylenic unsaturated hydrocarbon, (b) 4-8C monoethylenic unsaturated dicarboxylic acid and (c) other ethylenic unsaturated monomers. Method for applying integrated pre-treatment layers with a thickness of 1-25 mu m to metallic surfaces, comprises applying a cross linkable preparation (A) on the metallic surface and thermally- and/or photochemically cross linking the applied layer, where (A) contains at least 20-70 wt.% of at least one thermal and/or photochemical cross linkable binder system, 20-70 wt.% of at least fine particle-inorganic fillers with an average particle size of less than 10 mu m, 0.25-40 wt.% of at least one corrosion protection agent and optionally a solvent, where the corrosion protection agent is at least a copolymer, obtained from (a) 70-30 mol.% of at least a monoethylenic unsaturated hydrocarbon (a1) and/or at least one monomer (monoethylenic unsaturated hydrocarbons modified with functional groups X 1> (a2) and vinylethers (a3)), (b) 30-70 mol.% of at least 4-8C monoethylenic unsaturated dicarboxylic acid, its anhydride and/or derivatives (where the derivatives are esters of dicarboxylic acids with alcohols of formula (HO-R 1>-X 2> n), amides, imides with ammonia and/or amines of formula (HR 2>N-R 1>-X 2> n)) and (c) 0-10 mol.% of other ethylenic unsaturated monomers, which are different from (a) and (b), but are copolymerizable with (a) and (b), where the quantities in each case are referred to the total quantity of all monomer units in the copolymer. R 1>(n+1)-value of 1-40C hydrocarbons, optionally substituted with non-adjacent C-atoms and O and/or N; R 2>H, 1-10C hydrocarbon group or -(R 1>-X 2> n); n : 1-3; and X 2>a functional group. Independent claims are included for: (1) a molded article with a metallic surface, which is coated with an integrated pretreatment layer with a thickness of 1-25 mu m obtained by the above procedure; and (2) a preparation (A) for applying integrated pretreatment layers on metallic surfaces.

    Abstract: A composition for the treatment of metal surfaces and for the deposition of metals or metal alloys on plastics surfaces contains a) at least one polymer as component A, composed of the structural element (1) and at least three structural elements selected from the group consisting of b) water or another solvent which is suitable for dissolving, dispersing, suspending or emulsifying the polymer, as component B; c) if required, surface-active compounds, dispersants, suspending media and/or emulsifiers as component C. In a process for the treatment of a metal surface and a process for the deposition of metals or metal alloys on a plastics surface, the metal or plastics surface is brought into contact with a polymer (component A). Furthermore, polymers (component A) are used for the treatment of metal surfaces and for the deposition of metals or metal alloys on a plastics surface, and polymers composed of special components A'a, A'b and A'c.
