    Abstract: Synthetic resins are obtainable by chemically bonding one or more compounds of the general formula I (* CHEMICAL STRUCTURE *) (I) where R1 is -OH, -NH2, (* CHEMICAL STRUCTURE *) -NHR3 or (* CHEMICAL STRUCTURE *) R2 is -H, -CH3 or -C2H5, R3 is -CmH2m+1, where m is from 1 to 6, R4 is -H or -CH3 and n is from 1 to 12, via the oxygen or nitrogen atom of R1 to one or more polymers A which consist of a) from 50 to 100% by weight of one or more esters of acrylic or methacrylic acid with monohydric alcohols of 1 to 18 carbon atoms or a mixture of these esters (monomers a) and b) from 0 to 50% by weight of other copolymerizable monomers (monomers b) in polymerized form, in amounts such that the synthetic resin contains from 0.01 to 1 mole of double bonds per kg of polymer A. After exposure to ultraviolet light or to electrons, these synthetic resins are suitable as contact adhesives.

    Abstract: A material for adhesion to solid surfaces contains (A) copolymer(s) of (a) 65-99.9 wt.% cpds. of formula CH2=CR -CO-OR (I). R = 1-12C alkyl; (b) 0-6 wt.% alpha,beta-unsatd. 3-8C mono- and/or dicarboxylic acids and/or anhydrides of 3-8C diacids, (c) 0.1-4 wt.% (meth)acrylamido-glycolic acid and (d) 0-34.9 wt.% other unsatd. comonomers, pref. with 2-10 C atoms; (B) 0.05-5 wt.% (w.r.t. A) of a metal chelate, pref. a Zr chelate, and/or an opt. polymerised metal acid ester of formula RnT(OR )z (III) or (IV): T = di- to tetra-valent metal atom, pref. a Gp. II, III, IV or V metal, esp. pref. Ti; R = 1-8C alkyl or 6-16C aryl; R , R = 1-4C alkoxy or 1-18C aliphatic residue; R = as for R /R , or 1-4C alkylamino; n = 0 or a whole no.; z = at least 1, pref. at least 2; n + z = valency of T; (C) 10-900 wt.% (w.r.t. A) organic solvent or a mixt. thereof with water; and (D) opt. fillers, tackifying resins and/or stabilisers.

(III) or with the exemplified cpds. succinic and maleic anhydride.
