    Abstract: Aqueous dispersions of copolymers of (a) from 70 to 85% by weight of nontertiary butyl (meth)acrylates, (b) from 8 to 27.2% by weight of (meth)acrylates (A) whose homopolymers have a glass transition temperature greater than that of the polybutyl (meth)acrylate up to 0 DEG C. and (meth)acrylates (B) whose homopolymers have a glass transition temperature below that of the polybutyl (meth)acrylate, the weight ratio of the (meth)acrylates (A) to the (meth)acrylates (B) being from 3:1 to 1:3, (c) from 2 to 15% by weight of methyl methacrylate, styrene and/or acrylonitrile and (d) 0.8 to 5% by weight of monoolefinically unsaturated mono- and/or dicarboxylic acids of 3 to 5 carbon atoms and/or their amides which are unsubstituted or substituted at the nitrogen atoms by alkyl and/or alkylol radicals of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and/or hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylates where the alkyl groups are of 2 to 5 carbon atoms, are used for coating sheet-like substrates.

    Abstract: Aq. polymer dispersions (I) are claimed, contg. (A) 20-60 wt.% polymer(s) (A) with Tg (-)60 - (-)10 deg.C, (B) 5-20 wt.% rosin, rosin derivs. or mixts., (C) 0.1-6 wt.% isocyanate(s) with 2-3 NCO gps., (D) emulsifiers and (E) at least 25 wt.% water; (A) are polymers of (a) 70-100 pts.wt. non-tert. 4-12C alkyl acrylate(s), (b) 0.1-5 pts.wt. 3-5C mono-unsatd. mono- or di-carboxylic acid(s), amides (opt. partly or completely N-substd. with 1-4C alkyl and/or alkylol gps.) or esters of (meth)acrylic acid with 2-5C polyhydric alcohols, and (c) 1-30 pts.wt. 1-3C alkyl acrylates, 1-8C alkyl methacrylates, vinyl 2-4C carboxylates, (meth)acrylonitrile and/or styrene. (I) are produced by mixing components (B) and (C) with an aq. dispersion of (A). Specifically (a) is n-butyl, iso-butyl and/or 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, and (b) is acrylic and/or methacrylic acid; (A) has K value 70-110 in THF at 25 deg.C; (I) contains 0.2-0.7 wt.% isocyanate and has wt. ratio (A):(B) = (8:2)-(6:4); the aq. dispersion of (A) is mixed with an aq. dispersion of (B) and, as component (C), an aliphatic polyisocyanate (II) in the form of a polyisocyanate prepn. which contains (II) with NCO functionality 2-3 and, as emulsifier, a reaction prod. of (II) with a mono- or poly-hydric non-ionic polyalkylene-ether-alcohol contg. at least one polyether chain with at least 10 ethylene oxide units (III). USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are useful for the prodn. of self-adhesive articles (claimed); also claimed is adhesive tape consisting of a PP substrate coated with a film of (I). The invention provides self-adhesive tape, etc. with a combination of high tackiness, high adhesive strength and high cohesion, as required, esp. for packaging tape, etc..
