    Abstract: Bis-hydroxy esters of di-(carboxyalkyl)-siloxanes of formula (I) are new, In (I), R1-R4 are 1-8C hydrocarbyl; A is polyether-polyol residue; m is 1-20; and n is 1-10. Prodn. of (I) comprises reacting (a) a Si cpd. of formula X1-SiR1R2-(P-SiR1R2)m-1-X2 (II) with (b) a hydroxycarboxylic acid ester of formula R5-O-CO-CR3R4-CH2-OH (III), and (c) transesterifying the prod. (IV) with a polyether-polyol of formula Ho-A-OH (V). In formulae, X1, X2 are H, halo or 1-4C alkoxy; and R5 is 1-4C alkyl, or opt. substd. benzyl or Ph. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for the prodn. of polyurethanes (PU). (I) are less viscous than the corresp. umodified polyether-polyols, and therefore give rise to fewer problems in handling and metering; the PU derived from (I) have partic. good processing and service properties; mould release agents are generally not required. Also claimed are PU foam and compact PU, obtd. from (I) and polyisocyanates, with and without blowing agents respectively; also claimed are moulded prods. based on such PU materials.
