Abstract: O.Z. 0050/034803 A process for hydroformylating olefinically unsaturated compounds by means of rhodium/ triphenylphosphine/carbonyl complexes formed in situ from rhodium acetate, triphenylphosphine and carbon monoxide, wherein the hydroformylation reaction is preceded by a starting phase in which the mixture of the hydroformylation medium, the triphenylphosphine and rhodium acetate is heated at from 90 to 120.degree.C under a CO/H2 pressure of from 5 to 20 bar and the acetic acid liberated is discharged from the reactor in gaseous form in a stream of CO and H2, until virtually no more acetic acid can be detected in this gaseous discharge.

Abstract: The invention relates to a hydroformylation process in which at least one olefin having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms is reacted continuously with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a hydroformylation catalyst in a reaction zone in which a liquid phase is present and a stream S) is taken from the liquid phase, heat is removed from this stream and the stream is subsequently returned to the reaction zone without removal of a material component.

Abstract: In the hydroformylation of 2-8 carbon (C) olefins (I), (a) a hydrocarbon charge is subjected to thermal and/or catalytic cracking and/or dehydrogenation; (b) the cracked gas containing olefin or a fraction is separated into streams with higher and lower (I) contents; and (c) the (I)-enriched stream, carbon monoxide and hydrogen are reacted in the presence of hydroformylation catalyst. Unreacted (I) and saturated 2-8 C hydrocarbon are separated and recycled to (b). In the production of hydroformylation products from 2-8 carbon (C) olefins (I), (a) a hydrocarbon charge is fed into a cracking/dehydrogenation zone and subjected to thermal and/or catalytic cracking and/or dehydrogenation, giving a cracked gas containing olefin; (b) the cracked gas or a fraction is separated into streams with higher and lower (I) contents; (c) the (I)-enriched stream, carbon monoxide and hydrogen are fed into a hydroformylation zone and reacted in the presence of a hydroformylation catalyst; and (d) a stream of unreacted (I) and saturated 2-8 C hydrocarbon is separated from the product stream and recycled to stage (b).

Abstract: Aldehydes are prepared by hydroformylating the corresponding olefinically unsaturated compounds with the aid of rhodium-carbonyl complexes which contain tertiary phosphines as ligands, by carrying out the reaction in the presence of compounds of copper, silver or zinc which are soluble in the reaction mixture and do not contain any component which deactivates the rhodiumcarbonyl complexes.

Abstract: A process for preparing a C 13 -alcohol mixture comprises a) bringing a butene-containing C 4 -hydrocarbon stream containing less than 5% by weight, based on the butene fraction, of isobutene into contact with a nickel-containing heterogeneous catalyst at elevated temperature, b) isolating a C 12 -olefin fraction from the reaction mixture, c) hydroformylating the C 12 -olefin fraction by reaction with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a cobalt catalyst and d) hydrogenating the product from c). The alcohol mixture is suitable for preparing surfactants by alkoxylation, glycosidation, sulfation, phosphation, alkoxylation and subsequent sulfation or alkoxylation and subsequent phosphation.
