Abstract: A mixture which is crosslinkable by photopolymerisation, is soluble or dispersible in aqueous media and is based on hydroxyl- and/or amido-containing polymers as binders, photopolymerisable monomers which are compatible therewith and photopolymerisation initiators and which contains, based on its total amount, from 0.1 to 10% by weight of an aldehyde of the formula I in which R is a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group or a C1-C6-alkyl, C1-C6-alkoxy, C6-C10-aryl or C6-C10-aryloxy radical, can be used in multilayer photosensitive recording materials which can be developed using aqueous media and contain at least one layer of a mixture of this type.

Abstract: A novel sheet-like light-sensitive recording material I with at least one photopolymerisable, relief-forming layer (A) which, relative to (A), contains a1) 20 to 99.499 % by weight of at least one polymeric binder from the group comprising random ethylene/propylene/alkadiene terpolymers of an ethylene content of from 40 to 80 % by weight and a double bond content of 2 to 20 olefinic double bonds per 1000 carbon atoms, a2) 0.001 to 10 % by weight of at least one photopolymerisation initiator, a3) 0.5 to 50 % by weight of at least one monomer which is compatible with the binder (a1) and contains at least one photopolymerisable olefinic double bond, and a4) 0 to 40 % by weight of at least one auxiliary, by means of which the property pattern is varied, and the production of novel relief plates, relief printing plates and photoresists from these novel recording materials I and novel flexographic printing plates which have been produced from the recording materials I.

Abstract: The invention relates to relief plates for flexographic printing comprising a relatively soft elastomeric base (U) having a modulus of elasticity of from 10 to 200 kg/cm2 and a thickness of from 0.5 to 6 mm and, firmly bonded thereto, a thin, relatively hard, difficultly soluble intermediate layer Z having a modulus of elasticity of from 1 x 103 to 2.1 x 106 kg/cm2 and a thickness of from 5 to 500 mu and, firmly bonded to said intermediate layer Z, a relief layer P' consisting of a photocrosslinked elastomeric mixture having a modulus of elasticity of from 30 to 2000 kg/cm2 and a thickness of from 200 to 300 mu , the modulus of elasticity of the photocrosslinked relief layer P' being the same as or higher than that of the base U and the neutral surface of the relief plate lying in or near the intermediate layer Z. The invention also relates to photosensitive laminates for the production of such plates.

Abstract: In the prodn. of matrices for embossing by placing a curable compsn. in the patric mould formed with the matrix and curing the compsn., a liquid photopolymerisable material (I) is poured into a mould formed from a matrix and edge suited to the wall thickness of the patrix, (I) hardening to a material with a hardness of 50 Shore A to 80 Shore D, pref. 70 Shore A to 50 Shore D on photopolymsn. with full-tone exposure, with shrinkage of is not >5, pref. 2% (w.r.t. a 10 cm x 10 cm sample ; and (I) is photopolymesd. slowly by full-tone exposure with actinic light and then released from the mould. The patrix pref. is tempered in the mould at 40-100 degrees C, opt. under pressure, after photopolyms. The matrices can be produced away from the printing machine, e.g. in the repro division of the printing works. Installation in the machine, together with the matrices, can be carried out quickly (in a few min.) and without problems. In addn., the properties of the material ensure good embossing quality and high editions at low wastage. The matrices ae re-usable.

Abstract: In a process for producing light-sensitive polyamide layers which are suitable for producing photopolymeric printing forms or relief forms, a polyamide soluble or dispersible in the solvent, a photopolymerisable, low-molecular, ethylenically unsaturated compound, a photopolymerisation initiator and, if appropriate, further conventional additives are homogeneously mixed with one another, and the homogeneous mixture is, if necessary, freed of interfering volatile constituents by degassing and then formed to give the light-sensitive layer. According to the invention, the photopolymerisable mixture is, before forming to give the light-sensitive layer, heated largely with exclusion of oxygen and with simultaneous movement or further mixing in the melt for a period of 5 seconds to about 10 minutes to a temperature which is 20 to 80 DEG C above the softening point of the mixture.
