    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a suspension arm from being brought in contact with an inner surface of a housing due to vibration by providing a vibration limit part colliding the suspension arm at a prescribed amplitude position to limit a vibration amplitude on the upper part of retreat surface of a ramp when the suspension arm existing on the retreat position of the ramp is vertically vibrated due to the vibration from the outside. SOLUTION: A support part 31 of a ramp is provided with projection parts 38a-38b. The matter that an interval between a suspension arm 14 and the projection part 38 is made small within the range not colliding when the suspension arm slides on a guide surface at a load/unload time is preferred from a point of view of an amplitude limit. Thus, the projection part 38a prevents collision between the suspension arm 14a and the upper surface or the cap of a housing, the projection part 38b prevents the collision between the suspension arms 14b and 14c and the projection part 38c prevents the collision between the suspension arm 14d and the lower surface or the base of the housing.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly guide a rotary actuator to a limit rotational angle and locks the same in a disk storage device. SOLUTION: A rotary actuator 20 is attached rotatably around a spindle shaft 16 as a pivotal shaft in a housing 12. An iron piece 60 is made rotatable integrally with the rotary actuator and attracted by a locking magnet 70 magnetically, and a pulling-in magnet 80 is added and set to assist suction torque for an unloading operation during the retreating of the rotary actuator 20 to a lamp 30. Thus, even in a thin hard disk device, even if a small current obtained by recovering the rotational force of a disk when power is off is provided to a coil 42, an unloading operation is successfully performed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a low-cost flexible cable structure by improving assembling properties. CONSTITUTION: In a hard disk drive, power and signal are transmitted and received between a carriage having a magnetic head for reading the magnetic information under the positional control on the disk and a card of the lower surface of a base. The movable part 44 of the cable 42 is supported by the carriage, followed up, and a non-movable part 46 is bent to enclose a reinforcing plate 50, and mounted on the base via the late 50. The plate 50 reinforces to connect a carriage connector 84 to the card 40 on the lower surface 60, and to hold the attitude to hold the lateral attitude of the part 44 on the thick surface 64. In summary, the one plate is sufficient.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device which can effectively erase data on a magnetic disk while suppressing the operation of a magnetic field on a spindle motor. SOLUTION: The top cover 14 of the disk device is provided with pole pieces 14a1 and 14a2. When this disk device is placed in an external magnetic field, a magnetic field which is local and has a steeper magnetic gradient than the external magnetic field is produced from the pole pieces 14a1 and 14a2. When the pole pieces 14a1 and 14a2 are arranged on the inner peripheral side of the magnetic disk, data on the magnetic disk can effectively be erased while the operation of the magnetic field on the spindle motor is suppressed.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the inertia latch mechanism with high reliability to be capable of mounting even on a thin structive disk drive device. SOLUTION: The inertia latch mechanism 7 is equipped with a latch lever 74 oscillatable around an oscillating axis 73 from an opening position to a latch position and an inertia lever 72 oscillatable around an oscillating axis 71 with a larger moment of inertia than the latch lever 74. When a counterclockwise impact is given to an actuator 22, the inertia lever 72 is oscillated counterclockwise, and the latch lever 74 is pulled by a 1st engagement projection 81 in a 1st engagement part 85 to move the latch lever 74 into a latch position. Then, when a clockwise impact is given to the actuator 22, the inertia lever 72 is oscillated clockwise, and the latch lever 74 is pushed by a 2nd engagement projection 82 in a 2nd engagement part 86 to collide against a crush stop 5 so as to latch the reversely oscillated actuator 22.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably fix bearing cartridge and a hub without reducing the pitch of bearing balls by providing a hollow section at the center of the shaft of the bearing cartridge and simultaneously providing a cylindrical protrusion to be inserted into the hollow section on the hub. SOLUTION: A hollow section 24 is provided at the center of a shaft 22 of a bearing cartridge. Then, a cylindrical protrusion section 54, which is provided on a hub 52, is inserted into the section 24 and the shaft 22 and the hub 52 are fixed. The section 54 of the hub 52 and the section 24 of the shaft 22 are fixed by shrinkage fit or adhesive so as to avoid the occurrence of mutual deviation. Thus, a hub fitting protrusion matched with a conventional shaft is eliminated, and the fixing construction is miniaturized and stabilized without reducing the pitch between the balls of the bearing cartridge.

When the device power source Vcc is turned off and a voice coil motor (VCM) driver 12 stops operating, a power source OFF is detected by a power source OFF detecting circuit 21 and retract delay time Td is provided by a retract delay circuit 22. After the lapse of the retract delay time Td from the OFF of the device power source, switch circuits 24 and 25 are turned on by a retract driving circuit 23, the retract capacitor Cr charged with the boost voltage Vup is discharged, a discharging current is supplied to a voice coil 5a and a head assembly is retracted.
