    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an integrally molded ramp for withdrawing a suspension arm of the information recording and reproducing device. SOLUTION: The ramp 200 is equipped with sliding parts 220 and 250 formed with guide surfaces 221, 222, 223, 224 and 225 and also a withdrawing surface 226 flat. Since boundaries among the individual guide surfaces and the withdrawing surface are formed parallel to a reference line, even when the withdrawing surface 226 is formed in a depressed shape, mold casting can be performed by drawing a mold in the direction of the reference line. A part formed by the same casting mold as the sliding part 220 and the sliding part 250 out of a supporting part 210 is formed not to be an obstable to drawing the mold in the direction of the reference line. The integrally molded ramp 200 has high manufacturing accuracy, and is excellent in accurate demarcation of a loading/ unloading position of the suspension arm.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To observe a magnetic field in the vicinity of the surface of a sample in scanning tunnel michroscopic mode by providing means for extracting the specific frequency component of a tunneling current generated through interaction of the magnetic field and magnetic moment. CONSTITUTION: The magnetic field observing system comprises a cantilever 16, a chip 12 supported on a cantilever 16 and having a magnetic moment at least at the forward end thereof, and means for applying a voltage between the chip 12 and the surface of a sample. The system further comprises means for keeping a distance between the chip 12 and the surface of a sample at a level permitting a tunnel current flow, and means for extracting a specific frequency component of a tunnel current generated through interaction of a magnetic field connected electrically with the chip 12 and the magnetic moment. While keeping the distance between the chip 12 and the surface of the sample at a level permitting a tunnel current flow, a magnetic field alternating at a specific frequency is generated and the chip 12 is oscillated through interaction of the magnetic moment and the magnetic field. Finaly, the specific frequency component of the tunnel current is extracted.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retract circuit capable of dealing with miniaturization and power supply voltage reduction. SOLUTION: Concerning a retract circuit 13, while a device power source Vcc is turned on, a retract capacitor Cr is charged by a boost voltage Vup (=3×Vcc) generated by a booster circuit 26. When the device power source Vcc is turned off and a voice coil motor (VCM) driver 12 stops operating, a power source OFF is detected by a power source OFF detecting circuit 21 and retract delay time Td is provided by a retract delay circuit 22. After the lapse of the retract delay time Td from the OFF of the device power source, switch circuits 24 and 25 are turned on by a retract driving circuit 23, the retract capacitor Cr charged with the boost voltage Vup is discharged, a discharging current is supplied to a voice coil 5a and a head assembly is retracted.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk drive device, a load/unload device and its control method performing stable speed control and improving reliability in data. SOLUTION: The disk drive device 10 is provided with a VCM(voice coil motor) spindle driver 12 rotation driving a disk 11, a magnetic head 13, an actuator mechanism 14 moving a head slider having the magnetic head 13 over the magnetic disk 11 surface and to a retreat position, a lamp block 15 and a CPU/HDC (hard disk controller) 16 controlling a speed of an actuator, controlling calibration detecting offset and dynamic range of an AD(analog/digital) converter prior to this speed control and controlling operation such as read-out/ write-in, etc., of data for the disk 11. Then, the device 10 increases a rectangular current value applied to a voice coil while successively changing a code, and measures the offset from the value of the AD converter at every current value, and decides it is a nonlinear area when a difference between the expected value and the measured value of the AD converter becomes a prescribed value or above to measure the dynamic range.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the adhesion of a head/slider assembly to the surface of a magnetic recording disc when the air pressure in the using environment is lowered. SOLUTION: When this method is used, a head flies on a disc 1, a head supporting arm 4 is moved along the diagonal direction of the disc 1 and a disc driving device positions the head to one of the cylinder positions of the disc 1. In this case, the air pressure at the part where the device set is detected during the power-on-reset period. The value is compared with a threshold value. Whether the operation for lowering the flying height of the head to the height lower than height for operation during the reading/writing period is prohibited or is not judged. In the detection, the current required for retaining the head at the selected cylinder position is detected and compared with the reference current value for retaining the head at the cylinder position at the reference air pressure. The value of the difference is generated and compared with the threshold value. The step for generating the information is included.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk drive device which realizes reduction in numerous control signals and cost and easily realizes countermeasure for noise. SOLUTION: An HDD(hard-disk drive) 100 has an HDC(hard-disk controller)/MPU 101 which controls data readout/write operation of a head, a preamplifier 102 which amplifies data from the magnetic head and a channel module 202 which is controlled by the HDC/MPU 101 to convert digital data into a write data and convert an analog signal obtained from the preamplifier 102 into a digital signal. In this case, a signal line for controlling the channel module 202 is replaced with control information. The control information is transmitted via NRZ bus which transmits data signals for readout/writing. The channel module 202 is configured so as to perform control based on the transmitted control information.

    Abstract: The present invention provides an integrally formed ramp that is used for evacuating the suspension arm of a data storage device. The ramp has sliding portions, each having guiding zones and a landing zone. The boundary between the guiding zones and the landing zone is formed parallel to a reference line, so even if the landing portion had a recessed shape, the sliding portion could be molded with a casting mold by pulling out the casting mold in the direction of the reference line. The necessary portion of a support portion which is formed with the same casting mold as the sliding portions is formed so as not to disturb the pulling-out of the casting mold in the direction of the reference line. The integrally molded ramp is high in fabrication accuracy and excellent in defining an accurate loading/unloading position of the suspension arm.
