Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric sensor not allowing sacrifice of either workability in soldering of a lead wire to one electrode of the piezoelectric sensor or workability in joining and fixing of the other electrode to a prescribed member with an adhesive, allowing prevention of a short circuit between the electrodes by the protruding adhesive when joining and fixing the ground electrode of the piezoelectric sensor to an electroconductive portion of a measured member with the adhesive, and allowing easy inspection of electrical connection between the ground electrode and the electroconductive portion of the measured member. SOLUTION: Two electrodes 18b, 18c of a piezoelectric sensor 18 are respectively composed of an electrode member suitable for soldering and an electrode member suitable for joining with an adhesive. The ground electrode 18c of the piezoelectric sensor 18 is joined and electrically connected to a measured member 7b with the non-electroconductive adhesive. By measuring a capacitance between the output electrode 18b of the piezoelectric sensor 18 and the measured member 7b, the electrical connection is checked.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an actuator that enables constantly stable control regardless of the turning position of an actuator arm, in positively damping butterfly resonance of the actuator and also coil breathing resonance. SOLUTION: A narrow-shaped additional S pole 16b is arranged on the outer edge 10c of a flat coil 10 comprising VCM, in the manner that 5 magnetic pole of the same poIarity operates regardless of the turning position of an actuator arm 8. As a result, it is possible to keep in the same phase the phase characteristics of the transfer function of the actuator particularly near the coil breathing resonance frequency; therefore, in positively damping the butterfly phenomenon of the actuator and also the coil breathing phenomenon, a stable control is always possible regardless of the turning position of the actuator arm.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crash stop capable of adjusting a shock absorbability by using the same elastic material and also whose attaching and detaching work is easy. SOLUTION: A metallic pin 41 has a recessed part 41f at an intermediate part 41a. An elastic body 42 has three impellers 43 (43a-43c). A crash stop 40 is a stop in which the metallic pin 41 is force-fitted into the pin inserting hole of the elastic body 42 and the part between the supporting part 41d and the knob part 41e of the metallic pin 41 is covered with the elastic body 42. A void 45 is formed at the boundary between the intermediate part 41a of the metallic pin 41 and the elastic body 42. Here, the supporting part 41d is made to be insertingly engaged with the crash stop supporting hole 10d provided in a base 10a freely pullingly and insertingly and tip ends 44 (44a-44c) of the impellers are made to be brought into internal contact with a crash stop inserting port 6c of an upper yoke 6 by being narrowed and the crash stop 40 is fixed buy this frictional force. Abutting shocks of stoppers (23a-23b) of an actuator are absorbed by the cooperative work of the elastic body 42 and the void 45.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To increase a speed and to reduce a power consumption by eliminating the dependency of bearing rotating torque on temperature. CONSTITUTION: In an actuator assembly of an HDD magnetic head, a pivot bearing 28 of a head arm comprises a pair of bearings 38 apart axially from each other and receiving a preload. In the bearings 38, the coefficient of linear expansion of an outer sleeve 42 is made larger positively than that of an inner shaft 44. A variation in rotating torque in which, as the temperature increases, the preload also increases, as the temperature decreases, the preload also decreases, as the preload increases, a rotating torque increases, and as the preload decreases, the rotating torque decreases, and a variation in rotating torque in which, as the temperature of grease sealed in the bearings 38 increases, the rotating torque decreases, and as the temperature of the grease decreases, the rotating torque increases are offset each other.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce resonance caused by an air flow in a driving device by providing an opening portion having a specified aperture in a rib erected in the longitudinal direction of an arm section having a head slider attached to its tip. SOLUTION: A head suspension assembly(HSA) is provided with an arm section 3a having a head slider 2 attached to its tip, and the head slider 2 is loaded on a disk side by a spring, for example by a 2g load. Ribs 3b are formed on both sides of the longitudinal direction of the arm section 3a to maintain rigidity. In this case, plural opening portions 3c are formed in each of the ribs 3b to reduce a projection area. When the arm section 3a is formed by stainless steel machining, since the opening portion 3c is formed by etching, the dimension of the opening portion 3c is set larger than the plate thickness of the stainless steel, e.g. about 60 μm. By setting the aperture of the opening portion 3c with respect to the rib 3b equal to 10% or more, Karman's vortex generated in the downstream side of the rib 3b is reduced.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To alleviate disk flutter by providing a shroud which may be fitted later to a magnetic disk apparatus. SOLUTION: A shroud 100 is provided as a part to be fitted later to a housing in such a manner as surrounding a part 94 of the angular range of the disk periphery along the relevant disk periphery attached rotatable to the relevant housing of a magnetic disk apparatus. Moreover, there is provided a magnetic disk apparatus having the shroud 100. Moreover, there is provided a new assembling method conforming to the new assembling sequence fitted to later provision of shroud as a method of manufacturing a magnetic disk apparatus. Use of shroud 100 enables control of disk flutter due to disturbance from the point of view of hydrodynamics and also improves track positioning accuracy.

SOLUTION: When a load beam 14 is fixed to a carriage 40, the carriage 40 is fixed to a fixing plate 32 by swaging and the fixing plate 32 is fixed to the load beam 14 by welding so that the load beam 14 does not come into direct contact with a swaged part and the deformation of swaged part does not have direct effect on the load beam 14. Furthermore, stability is enhanced in the fixing of load beam by a structure wherein the carriage 40 is surrounded by the load beam 14 on the fixing plate 32 side, i.e., the load beam 14 extends from the opposite sides of longitudinal center of load beam toward the carriage 40 side.
