Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a gas discharge type display device of simple structure, which is equipped with a long lifetime, high brightness, and low power consumption and whose power supply is embodied small and light and is manufacturable at a low cost. CONSTITUTION:Address electrodes 2, dielectric substance layer 3, and cathodes 4 are laid one over another on a photo-transmissive base board of glass 1, and anodes 6 having resistor 6a group 6a and electrode 6b group and an insulative layer 7 are furnished one over the other on an insulative base board 5, wherein the anodes 6 are intersectingly arranged opposing to the address electrodes 2 while the dielectric substance layer 3 and insulative layer 7 are interposed in between. The driving method for this display device consists of impressing a scan pulse can the anodes 6, impressing a write pulse on the address electrode 2 mating with the discharge cell 9 in which a write is to be made so that a write discharge takes place, impressing a retention voltage on the cathodes 4, continuing the retention discharge condition during the period the retention voltage is being impressed, and generating a light emission from the discharge cell 9 into which write is made. In the same manner, scan is made for the group of anodes, and thereby light emissions are performed from all discharge cells 9 into which write is made to generate display of one image.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a method of driving a DC type plasma display pannel having a third electrode on the entire surface of the pannel in high luminance without shortening a discharge maintaining time. CONSTITUTION:In the drive performing the write in a display discharge cell corresponding to cathodes K1, K2, K3... by the discharge between the scanning pulse Vk of the cathode and the write pulse Fw of an anode, and maintaining the display discharge by a discharge maintaining pulse Va till an erasure pulse Ve is impressed to the cathode, a trigger pulse Vt is impressed to the cathode previous to the write, and the priming of the display discharge cell on the cathode is executed by an auxiliary discharge between with the third electrode. Since the priming is executed independently of other cathodes, a priming period at every sub field in sub field division drive is unnecessitated.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an AC type plasma display panel(PDP) which can be connected with an external drive circuit easily while maintaining a low resistance and a high precision of a maintenance electrode and a scanning electrode. CONSTITUTION:A maintenance electrode and a scanning electrode formed on a back plate 1 are made in a laminate structure of the low resistance metal membranous electrode or electrodes 4 and the conductive intermediate electrode or electrodes 3, and as the connecting terminal or terminals of the frit seals and the external circuits, a printed and baked type thick film electrodes 2 are used. Since the metal film electrode 4 is not contacted directly to the frit member in such a structure, a poor sealing to generate a leakage and the like in not generated, and furthermore, a flexible printed circuit(FPC) application process or a COG process having a high reliability in the connection with an external driving circuit can be applied.

A drawing electrode 6 orthogonal to the first electrodes 3 and connected to the group of the second electrodes 5 through a plurality of through- holes 8 provided in the dielectric layer 7 is arranged on the dielectric layer 7, and a phosphor 9 is arranged on a second plate 2 through a bulkhead 4 for partitioning discharge cells 10. Thus, a two-electrode type face discharge ACPDP having the first electrodes and second electrodes formed on the same plane and the dielectric layer formed thereon in one layer is provided, and the manufacturing process can be simplified.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To check generation of an excessive pseudo-signal even when a return beam flows into a getter vacuum evaporation film by connecting a conductive getter vacuum evaporation film with a deflection electrode or a terminal to which the prescribed potential is to be given for being held in proper potential. CONSTITUTION:One of four conductive films 4 for deflection electrodes is provided with the extended part 16 projecting toward a getter vaccum evaporation film 15 while forming the getter vacuum evaporation film 15 partly overlapping said extended part 16 by getter flash. And generally voltage of about 300+ or -60V is impressed on the conductive film 4 for a deflection electrode so that the getter vacuum evaporation film 15 is held about in said potential. Thereby, the greater part of the return beam going to the side of the getter vacuum evaporation film 15 is absorbed by the getter vacuum evaporation film 15 while reducing a reflection beam and suppressing generation of a pseudo-signal.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a paste composition whose section is of V-shape after drying when it is filled in the required part by using the combination of two kinds of prescribed compounds kos her as the solvent to be used in the preparation of the phosphor. CONSTITUTION:A bulkhead 2 is formed on a back plate 1 where a lower electrode 3 is provided, and the phosphor paste composition is filled in the bulkhead 2 by using the screen printing method. This paste composition contains the cellulose polymer binder, the fluorescent substance and the organic solvent. The mixed solvent consisting of, by weight, 30-70% dialkyl glycol mono-alkyl ether acetate and 70-30% dialkylene glycol mono-alkyl ether is used as this organic solvent. This constitution improves the dispersion of the fluorescent substance and the printing performance during the screen printing, and the phosphor of V-shaped section is obtained when the paste is filled, and it is preferable for the sand-blast treatment.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To smoothly perform sand blasting without marring a substrate and an electrode by using hard plastic particles for removing polishing material when removing a partition wall forming non-organic material layer and a fluorescent layer. CONSTITUTION:A patterned electrode 2 is formed on a substrate 1, a partition wall forming non-organic material layer 3 is formed on the whole surface of the substrate 1 and a mask 4 is formed on the partition wall forming non- organic material layer 3. After the partition wall forming non-organic material layer 3 to which the mask 4 is not applied is removed by sand blasting, fluorescent paste 5 is filled in an area, where the non-organic material layer 3 is removed, and dried; the fluorescent layer 5 on the electrode 2 is selectively removed by sand blasting and the mask 4 is peeled and removed. For sand blasting, hard plastic particles such as urea group resin particles of Mohs' hardness 3-5 and average size 40-200mum or so is used. In this way, a plasma display panel substrate is efficiently obtained for a high quality display.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To display the temperature distribusion and the visible ray optical image of an object to be detected on a picture monitor by picking up the image of an object to be detected for measuring the temperature distribution by a television camera for picking up the optical image of the visible ray in the same detecting angle of visibility as an infrared ray camera. CONSTITUTION:An infrared ray radiated from the object 1 to be detected passes through a hood 3, a half mirror 4, a lens 5 and an optical chopper 8 to form an image on the light receiving surface of one dimensional infrared ray detector 9. An infrared ray signal generating circuit 11 reads the output signal of the one dimensional infrared ray detector 9 by making a temperature measured by a thermistor 12 as a reference signal and outputs the signal of the positive polarity or the negative polarity of the difference as an absolute temperature distribution signal. The visible light from the object is reflected on the half mirror 4 and forms the image on the light receiving surface of the television camera 7 via the lens 6. A television signal is synthesized with the temperature distribution signal in a television signal synthesizing circuit 13 and displayed on the screen of the cathode ray tube of a picture display device 14.
