    Abstract: A gas discharge display unit having a partition wall structure which is useful for forming discharge cells suitable for the color image display with high precision is provided. A plurality of cathode electrodes are formed on a front panel. A plurality of anode buses, anode electrodes, auxiliary electrodes and resistors are formed on a back plate. A layer insulating film is formed on the back plate where the anode buses, the anode electrodes and the resistors are provided except for a display electrode portion. A display electrode is formed on the upper face of the anode electrode. Then, a three-layered insulating layer having differing quantities of a resin binder is formed on the layer insulating film. Unnecessary portions are removed by a sand blasting step to form partition walls comprised of partition layers. A phosphor is applied onto the layer insulating film in a discharge cell except for the display electrode portion. The front plate is joined to the back plate with the partition walls held therebetween in such a manner that the cathode ray tube is orthogonal to the anode bus.

    Abstract: A gas discharge display unit having a partition wall structure which is useful for forming discharge cells suitable for the color image display with high precision is provided. A plurality of cathode electrodes are formed on a front panel. A plurality of anode buses, anode electrodes, auxiliary electrodes and resistors are formed on a back plate. A layer insulating film is formed on the back plate where the anode buses, the anode electrodes and the resistors are provided except for a display electrode portion. A display electrode is formed on the upper face of the anode electrode. Then, a three-layered insulating layer having differing quantities of a resin binder is formed on the layer insulating film. Unnecessary portions are removed by a sand blasting step to form partition walls comprised of partition layers. A phosphor is applied onto the layer insulating film in a discharge cell except for the display electrode portion. The front plate is joined to the back plate with the partition walls held therebetween in such a manner that the cathode ray tube is orthogonal to the anode bus.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To construct a discharge cell having refined, high-precision openings by using a stack of three specific layers in forming a partition via which a front plate having a group of cathode wires is opposed to and held against a back plate having anodes and phosphors, etc. CONSTITUTION: A node buses 4a, anodes 4b, auxiliary anodes 11, resistors 8, interlayer insulating films 10, and display electrodes 7 are formed on a back plate 3 such as a glass substrate. First to third partition layers 5a to (c), made from materials composed chiefly of 1.0 to 3.0, 0.5 to 1.5, and 2.0 to 5.0wt% cellulose high polymer binder, respectively, and frit glass, are formed on the film 10 in such a manner as to have thicknesses of 10μm, 200 to 210μm, and 10 to 20μm, respectively, and after unnecessary portions are removed by etching the layers 5a to (c) are baked at 500 to 550 deg.C to form a partition 5, to which a phosphor 9 is applied to obtain the back plate. A front plate 1 which is a transparent substrate of glass or the like provided with a group of cathode wires 2 is sealed with the back plate 3 in such a way that the wires 2 and the buses 4a cross at right angles, with a rare gas sealed inside a discharge cell 6.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of the panel of a gas discharge type display device and to attain the longer life, higher luminance and lower electric power consumption thereof. CONSTITUTION:This gas discharge type display device is constituted by providing the surface of an insulating substrate 1 with striped anode 4 groups having resistors 2 and electrode bodies 3 and striped auxiliary anode 5 groups parallel with the anode 4 groups, covering these anode 4 groups with insulator layers 6, orthogonally arranging striped cathode 8 groups disposed on a transmissive glass substrate 7 opposite to these anode 4 groups and auxiliary anode 5 groups, forming discharge cells 10 enclosing the respective opposite spaces of the anode 4 groups and the cathode 8 groups by partition walls 9 and auxiliary discharge cells 11 communicating with the discharge cells 10 in the opposite spaces of the auxiliary anodes 5 and the cathode 8 groups and disposing discharge holes 12 in such a manner that the electrode bodies 3 of the anodes 4 are at least partly exposed from the insulator layers 6. Auxiliary discharge pulses are impressed respectively via resistor 13 groups to the striped auxiliary anode 5 groups. Charging pulses of a high voltage and narrow width are impressed to the auxiliary anode 5 groups.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a display device without dispersion in the light-emitting brightness or the actuating voltage by forming a water-soluble resin film on a patterned electrode formed on a substrate and conducting the prescribed operation, and then, removing the water-soluble resin film. CONSTITUTION:A water-soluble resin film 3 having the solvent resistance and the sand-blast resistance is formed on a patterned electrode 2 formed on a substrate 1. An inorganic paste layer 4 is formed on the whole surface of this substrate 1. A mask 5 is formed on this inorganic paste layer 4, and the inorganic paste 4 without the mask 5 is removed by the sand-blast method. The phosphor paste 6 is filled in the part where the inorganic paste layer 4 is removed. The phosphor paste 6 on the water-soluble resin film 3 is removed by the sand-blast method. The exposed water-soluble resin film 3 is removed with hot water. The electrode 2 during the process is protected by the water-soluble resin film 3, and the electrode 2 is not damaged. This constitution easily manufactures the plasma display panel substrate to provide a display device of high quality.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify circuit constitution by connecting terminal electrodes in pairs to an electrode wire through a resistor, and emitting light from phosphor by ultraviolet radiation generated by discharge of rare gas. CONSTITUTION:Two terminal electrodes 7 are connected in common as a pair in the scanning direction, and a common connecting part is connected to an anode bus bar 4 through a resistor 8a. Since this resistor 8a is connected to a far side anode bus bar 4, when a length is made long, resistance can be increased. In this way, when constitution is set in such a way that the terminal electrodes 7 are connected to the anode bus bar 4 by holding a single resistor 8a in common in pairs by the terminal electrodes 7 adjacent to each other in the scanning direction, the area possessed by the resistor 8a is reduced, and high density is realized. When being arranged in this way, since interlaced scanning becomes possible, phosphor can emit light by ultraviolet radiation generated by discharge of rare gas by a simple circuit.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an AC type color plasma display panel(PDP) which can obtain a low resistance and a high precision of a maintenance electrode and a scanning electrode with good accuracy at a high yield at a low cost, and can easily be connected with an external drive circuit. CONSTITUTION:A maintenance electrode and a scanning electrode formed on a back plate 1 are made highly precise by forming a laminate structure of the lower electrode or electrodes (a bypass electrode or electrodes) 3 using a photo-etching process of an ITO or the like, and are made low in resistance by layering structurally the upper electrode 4 using a printed and baked type low resistance electrode material to obtain a low resistance. By such a structure, a low resistance can be obtained lower than the conventional maintenance electrode and scanning electrode of a metallic electrode, and the electrodes can correspond to a large image screen sufficiently. And since a printed and baked electrode can be used as an external pickup electrode, a highly reliable circuit mounting in a flexible printed circuit(FPC) thermal application, a COG process, or the like can be carried out.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To accomplish a plasma display device which gives stable main discharging and high brightness, high contrast characteristics. CONSTITUTION:A priming electrode 5, dielectric substance layer 6, fluorescent substance film 14 are furnished on the inner surface of a back plate 4, while a clear stripe-form anode 12, insulative diaphragm 15, and cathode 16 are provided on the inside surface of a facade plate 1. The insulative diaphragm is made in matrix form and is provided with a number of No.1 parallel line regions 15a, stretching in one direction, and a number of No.2 parallel line regions 15b extending as intersecting these parallel line regions 15a. The cathode 16 is made in the form of ladder, whose longer edges are located in two adjoining No.2 parallel line regions 15b while shorter edges positioned in the No.1 parallel line regions 15a. Thereby the current density of the cathode is enhanced, and a high brightness is obtained owing to the see-through type, and also a good contrast is presented because of viewing through ladder-form cathode. Thus a severance of cathode does not directly cause futal damage.

Second electrode wires 4, display electrode bodies 7 respectively connected to the second electrode wires 4, partition walls 5 formed into grid-like surrounding the display electrode bodies 7, fluorescent substances 9 surrounded by the partition walls 5 and formed in areas excluding the display electrode bodies 7 are provided on a back face plate 3. The front face plate 1 and the back face plate 3 are oppositely held so as to fill rare gas inside.
