    Abstract: The mixture described is a mixture of isomeric nonanol diesters of a dicarboxylic acid, selected from the class consisting of a mixture of diesters of adipic acid in the 1H NMR spectrum of which, observed in CDCl3, the ratio of the area under the resonance signals at chemical shifts in the range from 1.0 to 2.0 ppm with respect to TMS to the area under the resonance signals at chemical shifts in the range from 0.5 to 1.0 ppm with respect to TMS is from 1.20 to 5.00 and a mixture of diesters of phthalic acid, in the 1H NMR spectrum of which, observed in CDCl3, the ratio of the area under the resonance signals at chemical shifts in the range from 1.1 to 3.0 ppm with respect to TMS to the area under the resonance signals at chemical shifts in the range from 0.5 to 1.1 ppm with respect to TMS is from 1.00 to 4.00.The diesters of adipic and phthalic acid are suitable as plasticizers for PVC-based molding compositions and have high compatibility, a low cold crack temperature, low torsional rigidity and/or high thermal stability.

    Abstract: A process is described for preparing esters of an acid component selected from among polybasic C 4 -C 10 carboxylic acids and an alcohol component selected from among C 3 -C 12 alkanols or from among C 3 -C 12 alkanediols, the alkyl chain of which may have interruption by from 1 to 3 oxygen atoms, by a) heating at boiling point, in a reaction zone and in the presence of an esterification catalyst, a mixture essentially consisting of the acid component or of an anhydride thereof and of the alcohol component, b) using rectification to separate the vapor comprising alcohol and water into an alcohol-rich fraction and a water-rich fraction, and c) returning the alcohol-rich fraction into the reaction zone and conducting the water-rich fraction out of the process. The process is simple to carry out and permits rapid achievement of essentially quantitative conversion.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing esters of an acid component chosen from the multibasic C4-C10-carboxylic acids and an alcohol component chosen from C3-C12-alkanols or -alkanediols whose alkyl chain can be interrupted by 1 to 3 oxygen atoms. Sad method comprises the following steps: a) a mixture consisting essentially of the acid component or an anhydride thereof and the alcohol component is heated to boiling in a reaction zone in the presence of an esterification catalyst; b) the vapours containing alcohol and water are separated into a fragment that is rich in alcohol and a fragment that is rich in water by rectification; and c) the alcohol-rich fraction is fed back into the reaction zone, while the water-rich fraction is extracted from the process. The inventive method is simple to carry out and allows the rapid adjustment of an essentially quantitative conversion.

    Abstract: Procedimiento para la obtención de ésteres a partir de alcohol y de ácido carboxílico mediante a) la alimentación de una mezcla, que comprende al menos alcohol y/o ácido carboxílico en forma de educto, en una columna de destilación que presenta secciones separadas, que comprenden inserciones reactivas y convencionales, estando dispuestas las inserciones reactivas por debajo de la entrada de la mezcla y las inserciones convencionales por encima de la entrada de la mezcla, b) la reacción del alcohol y del ácido carboxílico en las inserciones reactivas en presencia de un catalizador, c) la separación por destilación de las mezcla de la reacción en éster de elevado punto de ebullición y azeótropo de bajo punto de ebullición, que contiene alcohol, agua y éster, acumulándose el éster en la cola y el azeótropo es separado por la cabeza, d) la separación del azeótropo en un separador de fases en una fase acuosa y en una fase orgánica y la fase orgánica se envía de nuevo hasta la cabeza de la columna, utilizándose en la etapa b) un catalizador heterogéneo y en la etapa c) el éster es retirado por encima de la cola en forma de producto puro entre otras inserciones convencionales que difieren en su disposición de la de la etapa a) y que están dispuestas por encima de la entrada de un evaporador con circulación.
