Abstract: A calibrated sensing system is provided for sensing charge in a storage medium, such as a storage capacitor (16), coupled to an access or bit/sense line (B/S) which compensates for most sources of variability in the storage medium and in the access line. In the system, the unknown charge stored in the storage medium is transferred to a first capacitor (28) or potential well via the access line. A high charge state of the storage medium is written into the storage medium and known fractional packets of charge are prepared therefrom, transferred selectively to a second capacitor (30) or potential well and compared with the unknown charge in the first potential well to determine the relative level of the unknown charge that was stored in the storage medium. By selectively using two or more fractional packets of charge multilevel sensing is performed.

Abstract: 1525352 Active filters INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 27 April 1977 [25 June 1976] 17489/77 Heading H3U A charge transfer device (CTD) transversal filter includes two CTD's 10, 12 receiving respectively an analogue input signal and an analogue transfer function signal. The signals obtained at respective tapping points are summed by the gates of field effect transistors, the non-linear characteristic of which square the sums 16, 18. The transistor currents are then summed, 20, to provide either convolution or correlation depending on the relative directions of propagation of the two input signals along the CTD's. The arrangement may be implemented using either charge coupled or bucket brigade devices.

Abstract: The amount of charge stored in a charge storage system can be transferred with negligible loss from the storage system to a charge detector without regard to the size of any distributed capacitance present on the line transferring the charge. This is achieved by charging a detector capacitor and the capacitance of the transfer line, to a reference voltage, allowing the stored charge system and the transfer line capacitance to equalize at a voltage level below the reference voltage, and transferring charge from the detector capacitor to the line capacitance and the charge storage system to return the line and the charge storage system to the reference voltage of charge. The voltage remaining on the detector capacitor is then equal to the original state of charge in the storage system.
