Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical means for restraining electric power consumption by reducing operational performance of a CPU, and restraining the electric power consumption and generation of heat of the whole system when the CPU requires waiting time in the relationship with a device and is processing a program. SOLUTION: A command code executed by the CPU 101 and information on the operational performance when executing this command code are loaded in the CPU 101, and the operational performance of the CPU 101 is dynamically set to a value determined on the basis of the loaded information on the operational performance so that the CPU 101 executes this command code by the preset operational performance. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to specify the sort of a keyboard necessary for generating an on-screen keyboard by a simple operation, without requiring user's knowledge and decision with regard to the sort of the keyboard. SOLUTION: A computer system that requires inputting a password is equipped with an on-screen keyboard part 20 that displays an on-screen keyboard 210 with a specified key layout on the touch panel 200, a keyboard type distinguishing part 10 that determines the key layout of the on-screen keyboard 210 and a password checking part 40 that processes the password inputted by pointing at the on-screen keyboard 210 displayed on the touch panel 200.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior information processing system with a power management function which reduce the power consumption by adequately lowering or stopping the operating frequency of a CPU by providing a power-saving means which places the CPU in power-saving mode for a specific time after the end of a transaction. SOLUTION: The CPU and a peripheral equipment are driven asynchronously and while the both communicate with each other, an interruption request is generated for a handshake and the CPU should respond speedily to the interruption request. The CPU, however, is in a mere wait state for the specific period after a specific transaction ends and the timing of the generation of a next interruption request is previously known. In this wait state, the operation of the CPU is lowered to save the electric power and the CPU is put back to its normal mode before an interruption request is generated to keep the maintainability of the system.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer information between different partitions between the environment of a predetermined OS in a storage device such as a hard disk drive(HDD) and an area shielded from the OS. SOLUTION: This computer system is provided with a hard disk drive(HDD) 11 fulfilling the specifications of PARTIES(Protected Area Run Time Interface Extension Services) with the access environment of an OS 22 and a PARTIES partition being an area shielded from the OS 22 and a CMOS/NVRAM 12 for providing a work area for performing communication between a user mode module 26 to be operated in the access environment of the OS 22 in a user data management application 25 and a management mode module 27 to be operated in an environment corresponding to the shielded area. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work environment by a proper OS by selectively and automatically starting a plurality of OSs according to the hardware constitution. SOLUTION: The plurality of operating systems are stored in a storage device of a computer device 10. A CPU 11 controlled by the first operating system stores a program image of the second operating system in a prescribed memory area of a main memory 13, and preserves the storage content of this main memory 13, and cuts off a power source of the CPU 11. When starting the system, the CPU 11 recognizes the hardware constitution of one's own system by control of BIOS, and starts the first operating system stored in the storage device or the second operating system for preserving the program image in the main memory 13 according to the recognized hardware constitution. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for easily switching different operations to input coordinates without making it necessary to preliminarily change the setting even when a coordinate input means capable of inputting the coordinates of only one point at the same time is used. SOLUTION: When first coordinates are inputted, whether or not second coordinates away from the first coordinates by a prescribed distance or more are inputted within a prescribed time is determined (steps S2-S4, S9), or after the first coordinates are inputted, whether or not the second coordinates away from the first coordinates by the prescribed distance or more are inputted with the prescribed time, and whether or not third coordinates in the prescribed neighborhood of the first coordinates are inputted afterwards within the prescribed time is determined (steps S2-S6, S9, S10), and first processing (a step S11) based on the first coordinates or second processing (a step S7) based on the first coordinates is executed according to the determination result. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically adjust the luminance of the screen of a display device in accordance with the brightness of the display and to improve the visibility of the display picture. SOLUTION: The controller is provided with a gray scale gradation evaluation section 20 which calculates the brightness of a display in a prescribed window being displayed on the screen of a display device and a display control section 30 which controls the luminance of the screen of the display device based on the display brightness in the prescribed window calculated by the section 20.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce energy consumption accompanying the execution of a program by adjusting the computing capacity of a central processing unit more accurately than before. SOLUTION: An information processor for setting appropriate computing capacity to the central processing unit capable of changing the computing capacity during execution comprises: an execution time measurement part for changing the computing capacity of the central processing unit and measuring execution time each time a program area is executed during the execution of an execution program for each of the plurality of program areas included in the execution program; an appropriate computing capacity judgement part for judging the appropriate computing capacity with which the program area is to be executed by the central processing unit on the basis of the execution time for each computing capacity measured for the respective program areas; and a computing capacity setting part for performing setting for executing the program area by the appropriate computing capacity of the program area when the program area is executed again during the execution of the execution program for the respective program areas. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing system capable of utilizing effectively the other area not password-authenticated while protecting a specified area in a hard disk drive by password authentication. SOLUTION: This information processor is provided with an external storage device having an access-limited area allowing access when a password is authenticated correctly, and an access area accessible irrespective of the authentication of the password, the password is registered preliminarily in a registration server, an input of the password is requested to a user when accessing the access-limited area, a password acquisition program for acquiring the password from the registration server is read from an access non-limited area, when the password is not input, the password is acquired from the registration server by operating the password acquisition program, and the acquired password is authenticated in the external storage device to set the access-limited area to an accessible state. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely perform a control to a device without impairing the availability of a system. SOLUTION: When a control for making the device 13 usable or unusable is requested from a hot key 11 or an AP 70, the AP 70 determines whether password authentication is necessary or not. When the password authentication is necessary, an ACPI BIOS 40 receives the effect through a device driver 50, suspends an OS 60. An SMI handler 30 displays a password prompt to a display 12 in this state, and if the input password is proper, the control of the device 13 is instructed to an embedded controller 20. At that time, the embedded controller 20 determines the control instruction from the SMI handler 30 by monitoring a signal for switching to SMM. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
