    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic for improving skin slackening, having an excellent stiffening effect. SOLUTION: This cosmetic contains (A) an activated zeolite and (B) a solid salt. Zeolite A-3, zeolite A-4, zeolite A-5, etc., of the formula; Mx O.Al2 O3 .ySiO2 .zH2 O (M is an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal and (x), (y) and (z) are each an arbitrary number) are preferable as the activated zeolite. A zeolite subjected to specific treatment such as ion exchange, neutralization or the like can be used. Preferably the cosmetic can be formulated with (C) an extract of fucus and (D) a polyhydric alcohol besides the above-mentioned components. The cosmetic can be applied to a massaging agent for body, a cleansing agent, a dentifrice, a cream, a lotion, an ointment, etc.

The compound of the formula I is obtained by reacting 1 mole a compound of the formula II with 0.5-3 moles a compound of the formula R -Y (Y is a halogen or an eliminating group such as p- toluenesulfonyl) in the presence of a base such as sodium hydride in an inert solvent such as DMF at 0-150 deg.C, especially 20-100 deg.C.

CONSTITUTION:This medicine contains a compound of the formula (R is 1-3C hydrocarbon or 1-5C hydrocarbon containing a hetero atom; R -R are H, 1-20C hydrocarbon capable of being substituted with OH) or its acid adduct salt as an effective component. The compounding ratio is 0.0001-5wt.% for the external medicine for skin of emulsion type and 0.0001-10wt.% for an oily external medicine for skin using a liquid hydrocarbon such as squalane, etc., as a substrate. 1-(2-Hydroxyethylamino)-3-methoxy-2-propanol is an example of a compound of the formula. The external medicine for skin controls occurrence of plication, expresses marked effect on disappearing plication, further expresses marked controlling action on parakeratosis, acanthosis, abnormal lipids metabolism, etc., and contributes to recover the normal function of skin and maintain its homeostasis.
