    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a ball retainer which is excellent in heat-resistance, durabil ity and lubricating capability and light-weight by forming a sliding contact portion with a ball by material, the principal component of which is vitrified carbon. CONSTITUTION:Vitrified carbon to be used is obtained by hardening and burning thermosetting resin, and polyacrylonitrile-series, rayon-series, phenol-series or furan-series resin is used. it is desirable to use non-porous vitrified carbon which can be obtained by using thermosetting resin capable of containing water more than 20wt% in the state of an initial condensation product as raw material. The material is subjected to cutting work to make a ball retainer A for a rolling bearing. The ball retainer A is little rubbed with a steal ball, kept from wear, light-weight, excellent in heat-resistance and does not require application of a lubricant.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a pigment having excellent coloring power and free from the problems such as carcinogenicity and miscibility with vehicles, etc., by using an ion-exchanging clay powder as the base, immersing the clay in an aqueous solution of a polyvalent metallic salt to effect the ion exchange, contacting with a liquid organic compound, and heating at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:The powder of an ion-exchanging clay (preferably having a cation exchange capacity of 80-500mg-eq/100g of clay, and having particle diameter of 0.2-500mu) is immersed in an aqueous solution of a polyvalent metallic salt (e.g. sulfate, chloride, etc. of Fe, Cr, V, etc. preferably having a concentration of 0.01-2mol/1) to effect the ion exchange reaction. The product is made to contact with a liquid organic compound (preferably a compound having a melting point of =20 deg.C, e.g. n-heptane). The treated clay powder is heated at 350-700 deg.C for e.g. 10min-3hr in a muffle furnace to obtain the objective pigment.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To weigh a liquid by an arbitrary aimed weight with high accuracy by collecting the liquid by a fixed volume which does not exceed the aimed weight and calculating the additional amount of the liquid to be collected required for the aimed weight based on the apparent density of the liquid. CONSTITUTION:During the first operation, the apparent density of a sample liquid is assumed at '1' and the liquid is collected by the volume V1 decided from V1(ml)=WXR1 in accordance with a ratio R1 (R1=0.5 for ordinary liquid) preset to an aimed weight W(g). Then the apparent density D of the liquid is found from D(g/ml)=W1/V1. After finding the density D, the second (additional) volume V2 to be collected of the liquid is decided from V2=W/D-V1. When the liquid is collected by the volume V2 and added to the first collected amount, the liquid can be measured by the aimed volume W. The weighing accuracy can be improved further when the liquid is collected by a volume V3=R2V2 (R2=0.5-0.99) as the second collecting amount and the volume V3 is added to the first collected amount. Then, after measuring the total weight W2, the liquid is collected by a third (additional) collecting volume V4=(W-W2)/D and the volume V4 is added to the first and second collected amounts.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare the title pigment excellent in the color value, chroma, gloss, flatness, water resistance, etc., by causing a flaky inorg. powder coated with titanium oxide to adsorb a basic aluminum, baking the powder at a specified temp. in a vacuum, causing the powder to adsorb an org. colorant, and hydrothermally treating the powder. CONSTITUTION:A flaky inorg. powder (e.g. micaor talc) is coated with titanium oxide by, e.g. suspending the powder in a strong acid soln. of titanyl sulfate and then rapidly heating the suspension. The coated powder is caused to adsorb a basic aluminum, and baked at 200-500 deg.C in a vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere. The baked powder is caused to adsorb an org. colorant (e.g. Red 104), and hydrothermally treated to give a colorant-contg. flaky pigment. The resulting pigment is useful for cosmetics, such as a lipstick and eye shadow, and coating materials.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an alumina carrier having such excellent properties that it can adsorb an org. dye to allow the dye to be enclosed therein, its pores can be sealed and it absorbs less visible light, by treating an aq. suspension of porous intermediate alumina with an acid and drying or firing it. CONSTITUTION:An aq. dispersion of porous intermediate alumina is treated with an acid at a pH of 2-6.5 under an equilibrium condition and the treated alumina is dried and/or fired to obtain the desired alumina carrier which is porous alumina which has a specific surface area of 10m /g or above and a particle size of 0.03-100mu, whose 2.4wt% aq. dispersion has a pH of 3.0-6.5 and at least part of which is converted into hydrated alumina when treated with water at 70-250 deg.C. Alternatively, the alumina carrier can be prepd. in such a manner (i) that hydrated alumina or porous intermediate alumina is mixed with an ammonium salt powder or is brought into contact with an ammonium salt soln. and the mixture is fired, or (ii) that hydrated alumina or porous intermediate alumina is fired in a hydrogen chloride atmosphere.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To enable the preparation of crystalline aluminosilicate having excellent characteristics, by reacting an aqueous solution of sodium aluminate with sodium silicate keeping the concentration of the solution at a specific high level.
    CONSTITUTION: A supersaturated aqueous solution of sodium aluminate having a concentration of 30W70wt% is charged into a strong stirring mixer while keeping the temperature in the mixer at 50W90°C. A supersaturated aqueous solution of sodium silicate having a concentration of 35W50wt% is charged to the mixer in 15W60min under vigorous agitation, and the agitation is continued after the addition for 10W60min. The composition of the mixture is adjusted to the molar ratios (Na

    2 O) of (1.5W2.0):1:(2.0W2.5):(15W30). After the completion of gelation, the mixture is heated at 80W100°C for 20W60min to obtain the slurry of crystalline aluminosilicate. The slurry is dried and pulverized to afford crystalline aluminosilicate having excellent characteristics as the builder for detergent.
