Abstract: PURPOSE:An expanded resin molding having mechanical properties excellent in isotropy, prepared by expansion-molding an aromatic polycondensate showing optical anisotropy in a molten state. CONSTITUTION:An expanded resin molding, cell content of 5-75vol%, prepared by expansion-molding an aromatic polycondensate showing optical anisotropy in a molten state, e.g., p-hydroxybenzoic acid type fully aromatic polyester consisting of p-hydroxybenzonic acid and 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid. Imparting of a cell structure to a crystalline polymer molding allows the polymer molecular chains to take a structure in which the chains are highly oriented along the surfaces of cells and makes it possible to obtain mechanical properties excellent in isotropy because of the effect of three-dimensional orientation.

Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled composition that is made by heating a sheet of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) resin and glass fiber of a specific length and making them in one piece, thus showing high impact strength. CONSTITUTION:A sheet or powder of PPS (a polymer containing more than 95mol% the recurring units of the formula preferably) (85-20wt%) and glass fiber (more than 0.3cm in length, preferably more than 1cm and a mat composed of continuous filament is preferred) (15-80wt%) are mixed, heated continuously under pressure, then cooled to produce a sheet-like product. The product is heated again at over the melting point of PPS and fed into a mold heated lower than the melting point of PPS to effect compression molding, thus producing the objective molded product containing glass fiber or more than 0.3cm length.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To manufacture the crosslinked form with a good appearance under a good productivity by a method wherein thermplastic polyester resin powder is mixed with crosslinking agent and is pressurized to form and crosslink it simultaneously under heating to a specified temperature. CONSTITUTION:The thermoplastic polyester resin powder having particle diameters of 2,000mu or less is mixed with 0.1-10wt% of crosslinking agent. Subsequently, this mixture is pressurized and formed under heating to a temperature higher than the melting or softening point and lower than the decomposition temperature of the thermoplastic polyester resin to react the crosslinking agent and the thermoplastic polyester resin simultaneously with this forming. Polyethylene terephthalate and polybutylene terephthalate, both having good mechanical properties, are preferable t o be utilized as the thermoplastic polyester. Polyisocyanate is especially preferable to be utilized as the crossliking agent.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a foamed resin molding of improved isotropy by forming the molecule of the resin from aromatic dicarboxylic acid units, glycol units, aromatic diol units and hydroxybenzoic acid units in a specified molar ratio and form-molding the resin so that the cell fraction may fall within a specified range. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic condensation polymer which can develop optical anisotropy when melted is prepared by forming its molecule by combining units selected from among aromatic dicarboxylic acid units (A) of formula I (wherein R is a bivalent aromatic ring residue), glycol units (B) of formula II (wherein R is a bivalent aliphatic residue), aromatic diol units (C) of formula III (wherein R is a bivalent residue having an aromatic ring) and hydroxybenzoic acid units (D) of formula IV in such amounts that units B are present in an amount of below 25mol% based on the total of units B, C and D. This polymer is mixed with a blowing agent, and the mixture is foam- molded to produce a foamed resin molding having a cell fraction of 5-50vol.% and improved in isotropy of the crystalline polymer.

Pellets of component (b) and a lubricant (c) (e.g., polytetrafluoroethylene powder) are extruded into a string and cut to obtain pellets (B) of a desired length. Component A is mixed with component B so that the obtained mixture may contain 5-30wt% component (a), 5-50wt% component (c) and component (b), and this mixture is molded.
