Inside of a coil separator 24 formed pyramid trapezoid to fit to the deflection yoke attachment 20, a pair of pyramid trapezoidal horizontal deflection coil 23 is arranged and outside of the coil separator 24 a conical core 33 coiled toroidal vertical deflection coil 35 is arranged.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube improving its explosion-proof characteristic and reducing its beam landing variation. SOLUTION: A panel 2 of a vacuum envelope has an almost rectangle-like effective part 8 having an almost flat outer surface and having a phosphor screen 1 being formed on its inner surface, and has a skirt part 9 being provided along the peripheral part of the effective part 8 and extending almost perpendicularly to the effective part 8; and a funnel 3 is joined to the skirt part 9. To the outer surface of the skirt part 9, a reinforcing band for fastening the skirt part 9 is attached. When a is the distance, along the tube axis direction, from the panel-funnel junction to the reinforcing-band edge on the outer surface side of the effective part 8 and when h is the distance, along the tube axis direction, from the junction to the center position of the outer surface of the effective part 8, the reinforcing band is provided so as to satisfy a >=0.9 h.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the drift in beam landing caused by a shock applied during a manufacturing process or transportation of a product by making the side wall sections lower at the short axis ends of a mask frame than at the long axis ends and diagonal axis ends. SOLUTION: The phosphor screen side end edges of the side wall sections 36 of a mask frame 38 are formed into a circular arc shape corresponding to the shape of the long axis end periphery (short side periphery) of the principal plane of a mask main body at short sides 40, and the height near the center sections of the short side wall sections 36 is made larger than the near diagonal axes. Long sides 41 are cut by 80% or above of the length on the phosphor screen side of the side wall sections 36 except for near the diagonal axes, they are formed into a shape different from the shape of the short axis end periphery (long side periphery) of the principal plane of the mask main body, and the height near the center sections of the long side wall sections 36 is made lower than the height near the diagonal axes. The height of the side wall sections 36 near the short axis ends is made lower than the height of the side wall sections 36 near the long axis ends and near the diagonal axes.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the unnecessary emission from a phosphor and minimize the degradation of color purity by setting the shadow mask central directional decentering quantity of a small hole to a large hole so as to be larger in a major axial position than in a minor axial position separated from the center of the shadow mask by a specified distance. SOLUTION: An electron beam passing hole 12 on the effective surface of a shadow mask is formed so as to have a form in which a large hole 19 on the phosphor screen- side surface communicates with a small hole 20 on the electron gun-side surface, and in the peripheral part of the effective surface of the shadow mask, the small hole 20 is decentered in the center direction of the shadow mask to the large hole 19. For the shadow mask central directional decentering quantities ΔRH, ΔRV of the small hole 20 to the large hole 19 separated from the center of the shadow mask by the same distance in the major axial direction and the minor axial direction, the decentering quantity ΔRH is larger than the decentering quantity ΔRV. The decentering quantity ΔRV is suppressed to the necessary minimum with which a side beam never collides to the inner wall of the electron beam passing hole 12 to optimize the decentering quantity ΔRH. Thus, the degradation of mechanical strength can be suppressed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent generation of a green droop and avoid collision of a side beam against the inner wall of a funnel by providing a pair of upper and lower first and second sub-coils in the rear portion of a deflector. CONSTITUTION:A pair of upper and lower first sub-coils 34 are disposed in the rear portion of a deflector 29, i.e., on a side of an electron gun 27, and a couple of upper and lower second sub-coils 35 are provided on a side of the gun 27 with respect to the coils 34. Consequently, a magnetic field having distribution of a barrel type, a pin cushion type, and a barrel type in order toward the direction of a phosphor screen 22 from the gun 27 is formed, where the barrel type is a main deflection magnetic field for generating a vertical deflection coil 32 of the deflector 29. As a result, a clearance between a side beam to be emitted from the gun 27 and the inner wall of a funnel 21 becomes large, thus preventing collision of the side beam against the inner wall of the funnel 21, and to correct a green droop which may be generated when the sub-coils are disposed in the rear portion of the deflector 29 in order to correct a coma error.
