Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce curvature in the vertical direction while suppressing substantially a color shift by setting the specific relations among the curvature including a vertical axis, the curvature including a horizontal axis and the curvature including a diagonal axis of the glass panel inner surface. Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the crack of an envelope, and improve the resistance capability thereof against implosion and voltage. CONSTITUTION:In a cathode-ray tube where a sealing material 9 is applied to a gap between the sealing side 26 of a panel 21 having a fluorescent screen 2 formed on the internal surface thereof, and the sealing side 29 of a funnel 22, and the panel 21 and the funnel 22 are thereby jointed to each other, a plurality of projected sections 28 are formed on the sealing side 26 of the panel 21, while recessed sections 30 for receiving the sections 28 are formed on the sealing side 29 of the funnel 22. Also, as a method for manufacturing a cathode- ray tube, the fluorescent screen 2 is formed on the internal surface of the panel 21 and, then, the top of the sections 28 is polished. Thereafter, the panel 21 with the top of the sections 28 polished and the funnel 22 are jointed to each other.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the focus characteristic by forming a second magnetic field controlling element in such a manner that it surrounds the passing region of the center beam and the side surface thereof facing each side beam in a concave shape. CONSTITUTION:A second magnetic field controlling element 21 is mounted surrounding each center beam passing hole 24 in three adjacent cup-shaped electrodes of cylindrical electrodes 22a, 22b consisting a fifth grid G5. This second magnetic field controlling element 21b is formed generally in a rectangular annular shape whose side surfaces facing side beam passing holes 24B, 24R are concave. Thus, the raster of the side beams 5B, 5R and the raster of the center beam 5G can be brought in good alignment all over the picture plane. Further, the spot-shape distortion of a pair of side beams 5B, 5R at the ends of vertical axis of the picture plane can be corrected, and the focus characteristic at the peripheral part of the picture plane can be improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To have stable operation by arranging a deflection apparatus as an extended line connecting an end portion of a first coupling section of tube-axis side and another end portion thereof a second coupling section side to each other is inclined to a center axis of the deflection apparatus to prevent degradation of the characteristics caused by the deflection apparatus provided with magnetic compensation element and reliability. CONSTITUTION:A deflection apparatus is configured as an extended line connecting an end portion of a first coupling section 32, which stands up at a specific angle from a magnetic coupling section 31 magnetically coupled to a leaked magnetic field from a vertical deflection coil 14 of a magnetic compensation element 30, of tube-axis side and another end portion of the section 32 at a second coupling section 33 side, which extends in the direction of a fluorescent screen along with the tube-axis, is inclined to a center line of a deflection apparatus. Accordingly, the first coupling section 32 does not cross leaked magnetic field from a horizontal deflection coil 13. Therefore, an eddy current produced in the first coupling section 32 due to leaked magnetic field from the horizontal deflection coil 13 at its end portion of a fluorescent screen side is made less. This results in heat generated in the magnetic compensation element 30 less. Thus, the deflection apparatus is stably operated without much affect of heat and degradation of its characteristics.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the lightweight feature and shock resistance of a mask frame, increase the thickness of a shield body, and improve the magnetic shield effect by supporting a shadow mask and the inner magnetic shield body with separate means. CONSTITUTION:Elastic supporters 24 are fixed at four corners of the frame 23 of a shadow mask 20, stud pins 25 are fixed at corner sections of the skirt 1 of a panel in response to them, and the mask 20 is supported on the panel 2. On the other hand, a magnetic shield body 21 is cone-shaped and has notches to evade the supporters 24, elastic supporters 32 are fixed at the center of each side of a large-diameter section 32, pins 33 are provided for the supporters 32 on each side of the skirt 1 of the panel 2, and the large-diameter side is supported to cover the outside face of the frame 23. The supporter 32 is bent and formed with a stationary section 27, an elastic deformation section 29 and a coupling section 28, and a coupling hole for the pin 33 is provided on the coupling section 28. The mask frame 23 is made of a thin plate and the shadow mask 20 can be made lightweight according to this constitution, and the shield body 21 is made thick and the magnetic shield effect can be improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To check any thermal deformation in a shadow mask by making the major axial radius of curvature on an effective curved surface smaller in a side in and around a minor axis effective diameter end than the central part and making the diagonal axial end vicinity larger than the major axis effective diameter end vicinity. CONSTITUTION:A shadow mask 36 tructure 32 consists of a rectangular mask frame 34 and a curved shadow mask provided with a lot of through holes, and these through holes are formed in a rectangular area 33 with a slit along a Y-axis direction in response to stripes of a fluorescent screen 30, and this area 33 serves as an effective area for image projection. With the center O of an effective curved surface as a reference point, a major axis is set to an X-axis, a minor axis to a Y-axis and the center axis to a Z-axis, respectively. An X-axial radius of curvature in the minor axis effective diameter end vicinity is made smaller than an X-axial radius of curvature in and around the central part of the effective surved surface, and an X-axial radius of curvature in and around the diagonal effective diameter end is made larger than the X-axial radius of curvature in and around the major axis effective diameter end. Thus, thermal deformation in the shadow mask is checkable.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To constantly produce good beam landing of a color cathode-ray tube by using a spring which consists of a support having a hole connected to the stud pin of the panel and a plate facing toward the frame. CONSTITUTION:A spring 30 consists of two stainless steel members 31 and 32. The first stainless steel member 31 consists of a fixation section 311 parallel to the outer wall surface of a mask frame 19, a slant section 312 continuous with the section 311 and a support section 313 having a support hole 34 connected to a stud pin 22. The second stainless steel member 32 consisting of a plate faces toward the frame 19. One end of the member 32 is fixed to the section 311 of the member 31 by welding and the member 32 is welded and fixed to the circumference wall of the frame 19 at several spots. Due to the above structure of the spring 30, a color cathode-ray tube equipped with the spring 30 receives only a little permanent deformation during attachment or detachment and during application of external shock and good beam landing is constantly maintained.

CONSTITUTION:The shadow mask of a cathode ray tube is formed by welding a mask body 15 consisting of the effective surface provided with many through holes 10 and a skirt area 18 provided in the periphery thereof to a frame 17 where a heat reflecting layer 20 consisting of the nickel plated layer in the thickness of 10-20mum is provided on the internal surface 17a and external surface 17b facing to the periphery 15a which has almost the L-shaped section and includes the skirt area 18 of mask body 15. Accordingly, when the shadow mask is heated through collision of electron beam, heat radiation to the frame 17 is reduced and thereby temperature difference between the center and periphery of the mask body 15 can be reduced and doming can also be eased and color shift be prevented.
