    Abstract: A process for powder coating comprises forming a coating on a conductive surface or a layer on a conductive surface by applying a powder that is formed by aggregating and coalescing polymer particles in an aqueous dispersion to the surface or layer. A process for powder coating comprises forming a powder by aggregating, in a aqueous dispersion, polymer particles including at least resin particles, coalescing the particles, removing the particles from dispersion and applying the powder to a conductive surface or layer on a conductive surface. A process for forming a powder coating applicator comprises aggregating, in a aqueous dispersion, polymer particles including at least resin particles, coalescing the particles, removing the particles from dispersion and loading the particles into an applicator for use in powder coating. By this process, a powder coating applicator is formed.

    Abstract: An apparatus for developing a latent image recorded on a surface, including a housing defining a chamber storing a supply of developer material including toner and carrier beads. A toner donor member is spaced from the surface and is adapted to transport toner to a region opposed from the surface. A magnetic roller conveys the toner material in the chamber of the housing onto the donor member. An electrode member is spaced near the surface of a donor roll, the electrode member electrically biased by a power supply to detach toner from the donor member as to form a toner cloud for developing the latent image. A power supply controller, in communication with the power supply, is adapted to adjust the electrode member electrical biasing to avoid air breakdown induced contamination of the electrode member with toner.

    Abstract: A coated toner transport roll consisting of a core with a coating of charge transporting monomers (I) dispersed in a binder and an oxidising agent selected from ferric chloride and trifluoroacetic acid present in an amt. of 1-50, esp. 2-15 wt.%, the coating having a relaxation time of ca. 0.0099 millisecond to 3.5 milliseconds and a residual voltage of ca. 1-10 volts. Pref. the coating is 3-50 microns thick and the (I) is an aryldiamine of formula (I), in which X, Y and Z are H, 1-25C alkyl or halogen and at least one of X, Y and Z is independently chosen from alkyl and halogen, dispersed in a polyethercarbonate binder. Pref. the transport roll has a vol. electrical resistivity of ca. 10 power(9) ohm-cm to 10 power(11) ohm-cm and a dielectric constant of 3-5.

    Abstract: A non-interactive or scavengeless development system for use in color imaging. To control the developability of lines and the degree of interaction between the toner and receiver, an AC voltage is applied between a donor roll (40) and electrodes (42) supported adjacent to the surface of said donor roll (40) to enable efficient detachment of toner from the donor to form a toner cloud. An AC voltage applied between the donor roll assembly and an image receiver serves to position the cloud in close proximity to the image receiver for optimum development of lines and solid areas without scavenging a previously toned image.
