    Abstract: A moulding composition (I) is prepared by mixing (A) 1-98 wt.% of a polyarylene ether having repeating units of formula (1); (B) 1-98 wt.% of a thermoplastic styrene copolymer; (C) 1-20 wt.% of an oligomeric phosphorous compound; (D) 0-60 wt.% of a polycarbonate; (E) 0-50 wt.% of a toughening rubber; (F) 0-60 wt.% reinforcing agent and/or filler; and (G) 0-50 wt.% ether additive. In (1), the repeating unit is optionally substituted with 1-6C alkyl or 1-6C alkoxy; X = -SO2-, -SO-, -O-, CO, -N=N-, RC=CRa-, -CRbRc- or a chemical bond; Z = -SO2-, -SO-, -N=N- or -RC=CRa-; R, Ra = H or 1-6C alkyl; and Rb, Rc = H, 1-6C alkyl, 4-10C cycloalkyl, 1-6C alkoxy or aryl or fluoro- or chloro-derivatives. Also claimed are (i) fibres, film or moulded articles prepared from (I); and (ii) a process for the production of fibres, film or moulded articles by extrusion, blow moulding or injection moulding of (I).

    Abstract: A moulding composition comprising: (a) 5-95 wt.% random copolyamide (I) of (a1) 95.1-99.9 wt.% component (IA) of equimolar amounts of linear aliphatic diamine(s) and linear aliphatic dicarboxylic acid(s) and (a2) 0.1-4.9 wt.% component (IB) of equimolar amounts of linear aliphatic diamine(s) and isophthalic acid; and (b) 5-95 wt.% other copolymer (II), selected from (b1) optionally modified polyarylene ether(s) (IIA), (b2) component (IIB) a mixture of 60-99 wt.% (co)polyolefin(s) (IIB.1) and 1-40 wt.% modified (co)polyolefin(s) (IIB.2) or (b3) a component (IIC) comprising 70-100 wt.% styrene-acrylonitrile (SAN), acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and/or acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylic ester (ASA) polymer(s) (IIC.1) and 0-30 wt.% modified SAN, ABS or ASA polymer(s) (IIC.2). The composition may also contain: (c) 0-20 wt.% impact modifier(s), (d) 0-50 wt.% filler(s) and (e) 0-20 wt.% usual additives. Also claimed are: (i) a method of producing the composition; and (ii) mouldings, fibers, or films produced from the composition.

    Abstract: The invention concerns a functionalized polymer of the formula A-Z-X in which A is a block made up of vinyl aromatic monomers with 8 to 20, preferably 8 to 12, carbon atoms, Z is a basic unit corresponding to a compound with sterically hindering groups and X is a functionalized basic unit, the degree of functionalization of the polymer being at least 65 %, preferably greater than 85 %, particularly preferably greater than 90 %.     Abstract: Multiphase polymer mixtures contain (a) a polymer (A); (b) at least one A-B-C grafted block copolymer (B) made of a block A and a resilient block B that contains a block C as grafted lateral chain, blocks A, B and C differing from each other; and (C) at least one additional polymer (C) different from (A) and (B) and incompatible with polymer (A). Polymer (A) is compatible with block A and incompatible with block C, polymer (C) is compatible with block C and incompatible with block A, the resilient block B has a glass transition temperature below + 20 DEG C and blocks A, B and C are incompatible with each other.
