Abstract: The invention relates to a mixture of substances containing one or several compounds with vinyl groups as constituent (A) and a stabilizer (B) as another constituent containing one or several easily volatile nitroxyl compounds as constituent (b1), one or several non-easily volatile nitroxyl compounds as constituent (b2), optionally one or several aromatic nitro compounds as constituent (b3) and optionally one or several iron compounds as constituent (b4). The invention also relates to stabilizers (B) containing constituents (b1) and (b2), (b1) and (b2) and (b3), (b1) and (b2) and (b4), in addition to (b1), (b2), (b3) and (b4). The invention further relates to a method for inhibiting premature polymerization of compounds with vinyl groups during the cleaning thereof or distillation by adding a stabilizer (B), or by adding the constituents of stabilizer (B) as individual substances or in at least two groups of constituents.

Abstract: A process for preventing undesired polymerization is conducted by maintaining an effective concentration of a stabilizer which comprises N-oxyl radicals in a mixture containing ethylenically unsaturated compounds, wherein(i) an electronic signal which correlates with the concentration of the N-oxyl radicals in the mixture is obtained periodically or continuously,(ii) the electronic signal is compared with a reference value, and(iii) addition of a stabilizer to the mixture is controlled according to the comparison (ii).The signal is preferably obtained by ESR measurement. The process permits efficient use of the stabilizer.

An Independent claim is included for the stabilizer mixture (I), optionally containing a solvent.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the continuous recovery of styrene from a mixture containing same, by distillation of the mixture in a cascade of n distillation columns. According to said method, (i) an inflow containing a stabilizer system is fed into the first column and/or is placed into at least one of the distillation columns positioned upstream of the nth distillation column, whereby said stabilizer system comprises N-oxyl radicals; (ii) in the bottom of the nth distillation column a high-boiling fraction containing the stabilizer system and boiling at a higher temperature than styrene is concentrated; (iii) a partial flow of the high-boiling fraction is recycled and placed into at least one distillation column positioned upstream of the nth distillation column; and (iv) the remainder of the high-boiling fraction is withdrawn from the process.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for preventing undesired polymerisation in a mixture of substances containing ethylenically unsaturated compounds, by maintaining an active concentration of a stabiliser system which contains N-oxyl radicals. According to said method, (i) an electronic signal is obtained periodically or continuously which is in correlation with the concentration of the N-oxyl radicals (ii) the electronic signal is compared with a default value and (iii) the addition of the stabiliser system is controlled, in accordance with this comparison. The signal is preferably obtained by an ESR measurement. The method permits the effective use of the stabiliser system.
