Abstract: Optical arrangement placed in the beam path of a laser scanning microscope has a light source and a spectral selection element (2). After the element (2) is an additional optical component (8). Once the light has passed through this element the dispersion and doubly refracting properties of the detection light can be detected. Typically optical components (2, 8) are acousto-optical-modulators or acousto-optical-deflectors.

Abstract: In a method for scanning microscopy a specimen, that contains at least one fluorescent dye, is illuminated with illuminating light. The detection light proceeding from scan points of the specimen is detected with a spectral detector that generates spectral data for each scan point. An amplitude value is determined from the spectral data for each fluorescent dye and transferred to a processing module.

Abstract: An optical arrangement having an optical assembly (1) for generating an intermediate image (2) in a beam path is configured and further developed such that an optical element (3) having a plurality of optical waveguides (4) is arranged in the beam bath after the intermediate image (2) to enable the imaging of the intermediate image (2) in a plane on a zone-by-zone or point-by-point basis. Further, a microscope exhibiting such an optical arrangement is specified.

Abstract: A method for operating a preferably confocal laser scanning microscope, the laser system (1) comprising at least one solid-state laser or a diode laser, is characterized in that, in order to avoid undesired distortions of the image information, the scanning procedure or the recording of data is synchronized with the phase of an at least largely continuous emission of intensity from the laser system (1). The laser system (1) and the data recording system (3) are synchronized by a control unit (2).
