Abstract:
In the method, scheduling of a plurality of users for receiving transmitted data is prioritized within a communications system. A next data transmission among the plurality of users is allocated based on the prioritized scheduling.
Abstract:
A high priority and/or emergency overload access control system treats a wireless unit as a higher priority wireless unit when the wireless unit is attempting to access a wireless communications system with a high priority call, such as an emergency call. For example, the overload access control system can recognize if the wireless unit is attempting to initiate a call to an emergency number. If so, the wireless unit can perform a persistence test as an emergency class (e.g. overload class 10-15) wireless unit in attempting to access the wireless communications system. Thus, the wireless unit will experience an increased probability of passing the persistence test and thereby reducing the persistence delay in attempting to access the wireless communications system with the emergency call.
Abstract:
A method and device for decoding data. The device and method select certain current states from all possible states of an encoder for each of encoded data, generate accumulated conditional probabilities (ACPs) for the selected current states, compare the ACPs with a threshold value, and store previous states associated with the ACPs based on the comparison results. The stored previous states are selectively output according to a predetermined scheme to generate decoded data.
Abstract:
Separate power control for the forward voice channel and forward data channel is provided without using additional bandwidth or decreasing the amount of pilot signal provided from the mobile to the base station. Alternating voice and data power control commands or information are transmitted in the pilot channel by a mobile to a base station. In one embodiment, the power control portion of a first pilot channel segment is used to provide power control for the forward voice channel and then in the following pilot channel segment, the power control portion is used to provide power control for the forward data channel. In other embodiments, other than a 50/50 mix between voice and data power control is provided in the mobile's pilot channel. For example, forward voice channel power control commands may be transmitted two or more times for each transmission of forward data channel power control commands.
Abstract:
A method for reducing multiple dominant pilots in a CDMA transmission system comprises linking a transceiver element with a nearby base station for transporting signals between the transceiver element and the nearby base station. Transmitting from the transceiver element forward link signals of a nearby sector associated with the nearby base station. An apparatus is also described.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of dynamically forming a neighbor list in a wireless communication system. Embodiments of the method may include forming a neighbor list associated with at least one sector based on information provided by at least one mobile unit.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of communication involving a plurality of orthogonal tones (210, 215, 220). The method includes transmitting at least one first pilot symbol (240) using at least one first tone (220) selected from the plurality of orthogonal tones. The first pilot symbol is associated (245, 250) with data (210, 215) transmitted using at least one second tone selected from the plurality of orthogonal tones.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for scheduling packets in an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) system is provided. More particularly, the presently described embodiments relate to a scheduling system whereby packets are prioritized based on packet delay information. The system also handles poor geometry users in an improved manner.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, whether packet loss of link layer packets at a receiver (200) has exceeded a lost threshold is detected. Feedback is sent to a transmitter (100) indicating that a header compressor (104), for compressing higher layer packets at the transmitter, should send a less compressed header if the packet loss of the link layer packets has exceeded the lost threshold. The higher layer packets are at a higher layer than the link layer and are formed by the link layer packets. The present invention also relates to a method of establishing a communication session in a hierarchical communication system between a source party and at least one destination party. Information for the session is stored if establishing the session is blocked at a node as a result of a blocking condition at the blocking node. Establishment of the session is initiated based on the information if the blocking condition no longer exists.
Abstract:
At least a portion of a total spectrum bandwidth of a wireless system may be allocated to each of a plurality of users by assigning at least one unique spreading code to each of the plurality of users. At least two of the plurality of users may have different spectrum capabilities and may transmit simultaneously. Each of the assigned spreading codes may have a different code length. The number and/or the code length of the spreading codes assigned to each user may be indicative of a portion of the total spectrum bandwidth allocated to each user.
