Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reinforce a power control ability by deciding a vocoding rate before receiving the sequence of a downward frame or an interleaving frame. SOLUTION: In a base station 14, one frame is organized, which includes an information bit in the vocoding rate as a channel bit in one channel rate, in order to transmit a downward signal on a traffic channel and at least one rate indicating bit which expresses the vocoding rate is arranged in the head part of the frame. In a mobile station 16, downward transmission power is calculated by taking the vocoding rate expressed by at least one rate indicating bit in consideration and the vocoding rate is decided by decoding the head part of the frame so that power control is executed in a period being shorter than one frame from the repetition of the first frame.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a call blockade start method in call reception control in a radio system. SOLUTION: In a method for starting call blockade in response to a pilot fraction as a call quality measurement value in a base station 200 in a radio system, a sampling square integral circuit 202 obtains a power level based on a current time length, a sampling square integral circuit 204 obtains a power level of a pilot based on the current time length and the both the power levels are fed to a 1st averaging element 210. The 1st averaging element 210 decides a mean pilot fraction based on the current time length from both the power levels. The comparator 220 compares the mean pilot fraction and a pilot fraction blockage threshold value and a controller 240 uses a call reception program to start call blockade in response to the case that the mean pilot fraction is smaller than the pilot fracture blockage threshold value. A frame error rate may be used in place of the pilot fraction for a call quality measurement value.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antenna system in which a traffic load is distributed uniformly between cells or between sectors of the cells by a method wherein, even when each cell is loaded heavily, a radio call can be established and processed and, when a traffic is overloaded, a soft hand-off operation to another base station inside an adjacent cell can be performed. SOLUTION: Antenna components for a cylindrical antenna array is adjusted, and a load is dynamically shared among the sectors of the cells or among the cells. The antenna component adjusts a beam arrangement or a beam direction on the basis of the monitored load. Consequently, the coverage region of the antenna array is changed so as to cope with a change in the density of the traffic. The antenna component is adjusted, and a change in the load inside each cell or between the cells is housed.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soft hand-off in a wireless communication system that can control power at a high-speed while reducing a spread between power levels of a base station. SOLUTION: Base stations 312, 314 or the like in the soft hand-off adjust a transmission power level in a 1st quantity when they take part in the soft hand-off and adjust a transmission power level in a 2nd quantity when they take no part in the soft hand-off. The adjustment is made by using a down-step size larger than an up-step size when the base stations 312, 314 or the like take part in the soft hand-off. Then the transmission power level is adjusted by a smaller up-step size and a higher down-step size when the base stations 312, 314 or the like receive the adjustment instruction.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for promoting the maintenance of a performance target of an inverse link by deciding the time when a request at a high transmission rate is permitted for a mobile station having an access to a communication system at present. SOLUTION: The method for deciding the time when a mobile station can have an access to a high transmission rate includes the acquisition of a 1st estimated performance indicator and a 2nd estimated performance indicator with respect to an inverse link of a base station to which the mobile station accesses at present. A blocking threshold (32) is established. Accessing at a requested high transmission rate is conducted on the basis of comparing the 1st indicator and the 2nd indicator with the established blocking threshold. In the case that an access at a requested high rate is rejected, an access at a 2nd higher rate not deteriorating the performance of the wireless communication system is permitted.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antenna configuration whereby the effective regions of signals are maximized and the interferences of signals are suppressed to a minimum both in a cell and among several adjacent cells thereto. SOLUTION: For a radio communication network, a system and its method for configuring and reconfiguring a cylindrical antenna array are developed. After receiving continuously from a mobile radio equipment its positional and signal informations, the reconfiguration of the antenna components of the cylindrical antenna array are so determined by using these informations as to improve the performances of the system. For this purpose, the interferences of antenna signals with each other and the drops of callings from the mobile radio equipment and a base station, etc., are suppressed to a minimum. Further, the antenna of the base station is so configured dynamically as to maximize the qualities of the voices with each other both in a cell and among a plurality of adjacent cells thereto.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of the deterioration of communication quality accompanying traffic increase. SOLUTION: Other output level measured values such as the output level of the set of signals are used instead of the pilot ratio of a forward direction link or by being added to it so as to adjust the output level of the set of the signals. The output level of the set of the signals is changed by a method including scaling by a scaling factor or the increase of the output level by a fixed or variable amount. The output level measured value of the set of the signals is obtained during a present period and the scaling factor to be used in the next period is decided by using the output level measured value. The scaling factor is obtained from a lookup table based on the output level measured value. In the case that a cell provided with a base station 200 is provided with some sectors, the output level of the set of the signals in the sector is adjusted when the output level measured value in the sector indicates that the output level is to be adjusted.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately reduce areas having many main pilots by performing transmission from a transmitter-receiver component by transferring a link signal of an adjacent sector that is related to an adjacent base station to send a signal between the transmitter-receiver component and the adjacent base station. SOLUTION: A simultaneous broadcasting component or an omnidirectional cell is inserted into a high density area of many main pilots. When local signal intensity from the simultaneous broadcasting component or the omnidirectional cell is increased, the number of main pilots at each geographical place is decreased. The simultaneous broadcasting component is a repeater in itself, the repeater sends a forward link signal acquired from a base station 14 and receives a backward link signal from a mobile station 20. Either a cable or radio can be applied as a communication link between the simultaneous broadcasting component or the omnidirectional cell and the station 14.
