Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:A bis(18beta-glycyrrhetinate) (trans-l-1,2-diaminocyclohexane) platinum (II) of formula I. USE:Malignant tumor therapeutic agents. PREPARATION:The objective compound of the formula I can be obtained by reaction between a dichloro(1,2-diaminocyclohexane) platinum (II) of formula II and a 18beta-glycyrrhetinic acid metal salt of formula III (M is monovalent metal). The compound of the formula II can be obtained by reaction between K2PtCl4 and a compound of formula IV. The compound of the formula III can be obtained, when M is silver, by dissolving 18beta-glycyrrhetinic acid in an alkali metal hydroxide solution followed by addition of silver nitrate.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful for synthesizing physiologically active compounds, by asymmetrically reducing a carbonyl compound using a reaction agent of an optically active alcohol derivative readily obtained from optically active tartaric acid, etc., with lithium aluminum hydride. CONSTITUTION:For example, an optically active alcohol derivative, expressed by formula I (R and R are alkyl, aryl or aralkyl) and obtained form optically active tartaric acid as a starting material is reacted with lithium aluminum hydride to give a complex, which is used as a reducing agent to reduce a compound expressed by formula II (R and R are alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; R and R link to form an asymmetric cyclic structure), e.g. acetophenone, and give the aimed optically active alcohol expressed by formoula III, e.g. phenylethanol. The alcohol derivative, expressed by formula I and used in the reaction can be recovered from the reaction mixture without deteriorating the optical purity and repeatedly used.
