    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a composition suitable for electrical and electronic parts, etc., having high weld strength and small mechanical anisotropy by blending a liquid crystal polyester comprising specific structural units with specific amounts of a filler and an oxazoline compound. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100 pts.wt. anisotropic melt-forming liquid crystal polyester comprising structural units shown by formula I to formula IV (X is group shown by formula V, etc.; Y is group shown by formula VI, etc.), having 75-95mol% structural units I+II based on structural units I+II+III, 25-5mol% structural unit III based on structural units I+II+III and a molar ratio of structural unit I/II of 75/25 to 95/5 is blended with (B) 1-200 pts.wt. filler (e.g. glass fibers) and (C) 0.01-20 pts.wt., preferably 0.1-10 pts.wt. compound (e.g. 1,3-phenylene-2- oxazoline) shown by formula VII (Z is group shown by formula VI).

CONSTITUTION:In producing the title compsn. comprising 100 pts.wt. liq. crystal polyester (e.g. a compd. of the formula wherein k/l/m/n=75/10/15/25), 0.2-30 pts.wt. high-molecular weight flame retardant (e.g. a brominated polystyrene), and 5-200 pts.wt. filler (e.g. a glass fiber), the polyester is melt mixed first with the retardant first and then with the filler, or vice versa.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare an optically anisotropic, wholly arom. polyester which is melt moldable at a relatively low temp. and to prepare a molded article excellent in the mechanical and thermal properties from the polyester by combining specific structural units.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To offer printed boards excellent in solder heat resistance and in molding workability by using a melt-moldable liquid crystal polyester having a specific structural unit. CONSTITUTION:Used is a melt-moldable liquid crystal polyester comprising structural units I, II, III and IV where structural unit I has a 40-90mol% of [I+II+III] and structural units II/III have mol ratios 9/1-1/9. Preferably the structural unit I is a polyester prepared from p-hydroxy benzoic acid; structural unit II is a structural unit consisting of 4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl; structural unit III is 2,6-dihydroxynaphthalene; and structural unit IV is terephthalic acid. In the case of loading a liquid crystal polyester with filler, preferable loading is 200wt% or less to the liquid crystal polyester 100wt%, particularly, 15-100wt%.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an excellently finished surface having high adhesivity to plated surface without deteriorating the mechanical characteristics of the base resin or contaminating the plating bath by roughening the surface of a molded polyester with an alkaline solution and subjecting to the plating treatment. CONSTITUTION:The molded polyester article to be treated is composed of 100 pts.wt. of a liquid crystal polyester composed of the structural units of formulas I to V (R1 is group of formula V, etc.; R2 is group of formula VI, etc.; X is H or Cl) [the molar ratio of (I+II)/(I+II+III) is 77-95 deg.C, m/(I+II+III) is 23-5% and I/II is 75/25 to 95/5] and 0.5-30 pts.wt. of an organic bromine compound. The surface of the molded article is roughened with an alkaline solution and subjected to plating treatment. The alkali etching is carried out by immersing the article in a 5-50% aqueous solution of NaOH or KOH at 30-95 deg.C for 1-120min.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title polyester improved in flame retardancy, mechanical properties and molding appearance without using any halogenous flame retardant by combining five specified kinds of structural units. CONSTITUTION:A product of acylation of hydroxybenzoic acid, a product of diacylation of an aromatic dihydroxy compound and an esterifiable organophosphorus compound which can give structural units of any of formulas I-V (wherein R3, R5 and R7 are each a 1-6 C alkyl, an aryl; R4 and R6 are each a 1-15 C linear or cyclic alkylene residue or an arylene residue; Ar1 and Ar2 are each an alkylene, and may together be combined; and Ar3 is a trivalent aromatic residue) are reacted with an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, and the product is polymerized through the elimination of acetic acid to obtain the title polyester having an inherent viscosity (as measured in pentafluorophenol in a 0.1 g/dl concentration at 60 deg.C) of 0.5-5 dl/g and containing organophosphorus structural units selected from formulas I-V and formulas VI-IX (wherein R1 is formula X, formula XI or the like; R2 is formula X, formula XII or the like; X is H or Cl) in such an amount that formulas VI-VII is 77-95 mol% based on formulas VI-VIII, formula VIII is 23-5 mol% based on formulas VI-VIII, the molar ratio of formula VI to formula VII is 75-95/25-5, and formula I-V is 0.3-45 mol% based on formula VIII.
