    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition having excellent laminating properties, wear resistance during drawing/wiping molding and processing and adhesiveness to a steel plate after retort, by adding cohesive silicas having different average particle diameters to a polyester comprising an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and glycol as constituent components. SOLUTION: This polyester composition comprises (A) a polyester (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate or the like) comprising an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and glycol as main constituent components and (B) (i) a cohesive silica having 5-50 nm primary particle diameter and 0.01-2.0 average particle diameter and (ii) a cohesive silica having 0.05-5.0 average particle diameter. Preferably the amount of the component (B) (i) is 0.01-3 wt.% based on the component A and that of the component (B) (ii) is 0.005-2 wt.%. The component (B) (i) is obtained, for example, by a method for a thermal decomposition method of a silicon halide, etc., and the component (B) (ii) is obtained by a method for decomposing sodium silicate with an acid, etc. Preferably both the components B have 1.0-8.0 cm /g pare volume.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester composition which particularly shows excellent abrasion resistance and durability, when it is used as a magnetic tape base by adding a slurry prepared by wet-treating 2 or more kinds of aluminum oxide particles different in their crystalline structure. SOLUTION: When polyester is produced using the acid components mainly containing aromatic dicarboxylic acids and the glycol components mainly containing aliphatic glycol, a slurry which is prepared by wet-dispersing two or more kinds of aluminum oxides different in their crystalline structure (suitably particles of 2 or more kinds of activated alumina selected from α-, γ-, δ-, θ-aluminum oxides) in a solvent (preferably the above-stated glycol component) using a phosphorus compound, preferably phosphoric acid, ammonia or a lower amine as a dispersant is added to the polyester at any optional stage. The aluminum oxide particles preferably have a specific surface area of 50-300m /g and the total pore volume of 0.2-1.5ml/g both according to the B.E.T. method.

The component B has an average particle diameter of preferably 0.01-2.0μm and the amount of the component B in the composition is preferably 0.01-10wt.%.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester composition suitable for, e.g., a film excellent in easy slidability and transparency by adding crosslinked PS particles having a specified heat decomposition temperature and inert inorganic particles to a polyester. CONSTITUTION:Crosslinked PS particles of a heat decomposition temperature >=380 deg.C and a mean particle diameter of 0.01-5mum and inert inorganic particles (e.g., wet process silica) of a mean particle diameter of 0.01-5mum are added to a polyester comprising a difunctional acid component based on an aromatic dicarboxylic acid (e.g., dimethyl terephthalate) and at least one glycol component (e.g., ethylene glycol).
