Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent an easy position slippage of a shadow mask to an impact and a vibration such as a dropping, by radiating a laser beam to the contact of the end edge at the panel opening side between a washer and the second elastic holder contacting closely, and welding them. CONSTITUTION:A locking member 21 formed at the opening 20 of the elastic holder (the second elastic holder) 13b of a shadow mask 5 held tentatively to a panel 2 is bent to a mask frame 12 side, and removed from a stud pin 14. After a washer 22 is engaged and locked to the pin 14, the bending of the locking member 21 is released, and the washer 22 is contacted closely to the surface of the skirt side of the panel 2 of the locking member 21 of the holder 13b. One corner of the mask 5 installed to the holder 13b is moved to regulate the interval between the inner surface of the panel 2 and the mask 5. After that, a laser beam is focused and radiated to the contact 30 at the end edges at the opening side of the panel 2 between the washer 22 and the locking member 21, so as to weld the contact 30 at the opening side of the panel 2, at plural welding points. Consequently, the mask 5 can be held stably.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the deformation of a shadow mask body due to the press formation thereof via the use of a simple method, even when the radius of curvature of the principal plane of the body becomes large, by providing the second curvature for making a correction for the side deformation of the body. CONSTITUTION:A punch 30 (upper die) and a knockout 31 (lower die) combined therewith are provided, together with a blank holder 32 to surround the punch 30 and a die 33 to surround the knockout 31. The molding plane of the inner punch 30a of the punch 30 has a molding plane 45 with curvature (second curvature) for correcting the side deformation of the mask body of a shadow mask, in addition to a molding plane 44 with the same curvature (first curvature) as the curvature of the principal plane of the mask body expressed by a single function. As a result, the occurrence of side deformation can be restrained, and a shadow mask having the required curvature can be easily manufactured.

CONSTITUTION:A cathode ray tube has a plurality of bulb spacers 33 which are installed on an electrode 29 at the electron beam discharge edge part of an electron gun 28, and brought into pressure contact with the inner surface of a neck through an inside electric conductive film 26 which is coating-formed on the inner surface of the neck 25, and the bulb spacer is constituted of four bulb spacers arranged in the vertical symmetrical form with respect to a horizontal axis which crosses at right angle with the tube axis. Four bulb spacers 33 are installed at the position in the equal angle of 45 deg. or less from the vertical axis which crosses at right angle with the tube axis, around the tube axis.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To correct deflection aberration of an electron beam caused by a magnetic field of a deflector so as to enhance a focusing characteristic in the peripheral portion of a screen by disposing an annular permanent magnetic device provided with eight-pole magnetic field therearound on the passageway of a three-electron beam between the deflector and the electron lens portion of an electron gun structure. CONSTITUTION:An annular permanent magnet device 28 having eight magnetic poles therearound is disposed on the passageway of a three-electron beam between a deflector 21 and the electron lens portion of an electron gun structure 20. Namely, independent formation of the magnetic poles on the annular permanent magnet device makes difficult directional shift of a line of a magnetic force at the time of magnetization so that the magnetic poles can be positioned precisely with respect to the deflector 21, thereby generating an axially symmetrical magnetic field. An electron beam can be prevented from becoming elliptic caused by a barrel magnetic field of a second deflection coil 25 and inclination of a pair of side beams can be effectively corrected without exerting any adverse effect on a convergence characteristic of the three-electron beam.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To assemble a shadow mask into the inside of a panel accurately by engaging three elastic supporting members in a predetermined shape with three stud pins to be locked, and supporting a shadow mask inside of a panel temporarily, and thereafter, welding the shadow mask integrally at a panel opening side end of lock parts where a connection and fixation part is engaged with a stud pin for lock. CONSTITUTION:Each nearly v-shaped elastic supporting member 31a in the integral structure is welded to each outside face of three corners of a mask frame 7, and a connection and fixation part 36, which consists of a fixation part 32b and a connection part 34b connected integrally with each other and for forming a nearly z-shaped elastic supporting member 31b, is welded to the residual one corner. A shadow mask 5 is supported temporarily inside of a panel 2 by three nearly v-shaped elastic supporting members 31a, and a locking part 33b forming the nearly z-shaped elastic supporting member 31b is engaged for lock with the stud pin 30 facing to the connection and fixation part 36, and they are welded at an opening side end 37 of the panel 2. A universal member of panel and mask is thereby assembled accurately, and workability of the assembly can be improved.

The distortion that the magnetic field component in the direction parallel with the tube axis of the vertical deflecting rear magnetic field of the deflecting device 9 gives a spot of the electron beam can thereby be corrected, and the beam spot form in the end of a vertical axis of a faceplate is made fine to obtain the fine focus characteristic over the whole of the faceplate.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase a margin of screen effectiveness at diagonal parts by providing the diagonal parts of a supporting frame with the following parts: flat parts where elastic holders are fixed nearly in parallel with a tube axis, and salient parts which are jointed with a shadow mask and projected in the direction of the panel's diagonal parts. CONSTITUTION:Four diagonal parts are provided with flat parts 18, and salient parts 10 which are projected in the direction of panel's diagonal parts, that is, outwardly. Inner walls of these salient parts 19 are welded with an outer wall of a skirt part 10 which is formed by folding a peripheral part of a shadow mask 2. The shadow mask 2 is fixed on a supporting frame 13. Elastic holders 14 fixed on the flat parts 18 of the supporting frame 13 are provided with respective holes 15 on the opposite side of the supporting frame 13 and made to engage with respective stud pins 17, so that the shadow mask and the supporting frames are suspended at a prescribed position. Hence, a margin of an effective diameter on each diagonal part can be increased.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To sufficiently correct the purity drift for a long time by forming a spring member hooking a mask frame to a panel into a specific shape. CONSTITUTION:Component positions before the operation is started are shown by broken lines, and they are changed to positions shown by solid lines as the temperature rises. As the inside temperature rises, a shadow mask 12 and a frame 13 are expanded in the peripheral direction, and a spring member 24 is pressed and deformed. At this time, since a connecting section 22 has a shape bent to the electron gun side, it is hardly curved to the screen side. Therefore, it can effectively push up the frame 13 to the screen side. Accordingly, the essential inclination of the connecting section 22 against a fixed section 21 (the angle between the fixed section and a plane passing two boundary sections 31, 32 of the connecting section, fixed section, and a hooking section) is not required to be increased, and the purity drift can be completely corrected for a long time, with deterioration of detachability and fatigue of spring property or the like not occurring.
