Abstract: A process comprises combining a Ce (IV) salt with a carbon material comprising CNT or graphene wherein the Ce (IV) salt is selected from a Ce (IV) ammonium salt of a nitrogen oxide acid and is dissolved in a solvent comprising water. The process is conducted under conditions to substantially oxidize the carbon material to produce an oxidized material that is substantially non-conducting. After the oxidation, the Ce (IV) is substantially removed from the oxidized material. This produces a product made by the process. An article of manufacture comprises the product on a substrate. The oxidized material can be formed as a pattern on the substrate. In another embodiment the substrate comprises an electronic device with the oxidized material patterning non-conductive areas separate from conductive areas of the non-oxidized carbon material, where the conductive areas are operatively associated with the device.

Abstract: Biobased cross-linked compositions, methods of fabrication and structures, in particular biobased printed wiring boards using the compositions and methods of making the structures are described. Biobased materials such as lignin, crop oils, wood resins, tannins, and polysaccharides and combinations thereof are cross-linked, preferably using heat, a cross-linking agent, and an initiator. The materials fabricated have suitable properties for printed wiring boards which are made by impregnating a fibreglass or biobased cloth with an admixture of the biobased material, cross-linking agent and initiator which is processed by conventional methods to produce a printed wiring board.

Abstract: An improved apparatus and process are described in which metal images are transferred to a softenable receiving layer (32) using commercially available multi-stylus recording heads (10). The transfer medium is comprised of a resistive layer (16) and a thin metal layer (14) thereon. Electrical currents are provided by the recording styli (18) of the multi-stylus recording head. Localized electrical currents in the resistive layer (16) provide sufficient heat in the metal layer (14) to soften regions of a meltable receiving layer (32) when it is brought into contact with said heated metal layer. Metal imaging for use in printed circuit board manufacture and in formation of printing masters can be transferred by this technique.

Abstract: METHOD FOR MAKING DIRECT NEGATIVES AND DIRECT MASTERS BY ELECTRCEROSION RECORDING AND PRODUCTS FORMED THEREBY An electroerosion recording medium for generation of direct negatives or direct masters comprises a conventional support on which is deposited a thin conductive layer, and a protective overlayer comprising a crosslinked binder. The overlayer contains a solid conductive lubricant and optionally a particulate scouring agent to inhibit electrode fouling during writing. Preferably a hard base layer is present between the support and the conductive layer. A method for making the described product is also disclosed.
