Abstract: In the production of rigid polyurethane (PUR) foam with low thermal conductivity by reacting (a) organic and/or modified organic polyisocyanates with (b) compounds containing NOTLESS 2 reactive hydrogen atoms in the presence of (c) blowing agent, (d) catalyst and optionally (e) ancillaries and/or additives, the novelty is that graphite is added to (a) and/or (b). Abstract: Emulsions containing polyether alcohols and polyester alcohols are used in the production of hard foams based on isocyanates to improve the temperature stability of the foams. Temperature-stable hard foams based on isocyanates are produced by reacting (a) polyisocyanates with (b) compounds with at least two hydrogen atoms reactive with isocyanate groups and (c) water in the presence of (d) propellants and optionally catalysts and auxiliary aids and additives. (b) comprises (bi) a polyether alcohol present in an amount of 0.2-80 wt.% and having a functionality of at least 1.5 and an OH number of 10-100 mg KOH/g, and (bii) a polyester alcohol present in an amount of 5-90 wt.%. (c) is present in an amount of maximum 2 wt.%. (d) contains hydrocarbons and/or hydrocarbons containing fluorine in an amount of 5-30 wt.%.

Abstract: The invention relates to a microcellular PU elastomer with improved dynamic-mechanical characteristics, based on an isocyanate component consisting essentially of 4,4'-MDI and on other standard components. The proposed elastomer following tempering at temperatures of 100-120 DEG C for 8-24 hours has a melting range of between 130 DEG C as minimum lower limit and 230 DEG C as minimum upper limit, as measured by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) at a heating rate of 20 DEG C/min and a urea content of 14-18 wt.%. Also disclosed are a process for producing such a microcellular PU elastomer with improved dynamic-mechanical characteristics and the use of said elastomers in the production of damping elements.

Abstract: A method of preparing an isocyanate prepolymer mixture containing urethane groups and reactive isocyanate groups, comprises reacting: (a) di- and/or polyisocyanate(s) with: (b-1) oligo- and/or polysaccharide(s); and optionally (b-2) polyester-polyol(s) and/or polyether-polyol(s) to give the isocyanate prepolymer mixture containing 5-30 wt.% reactive isocyanate groups. Also claimed are: (1) the isocyanate prepolymer mixt.; (2) use of a reaction extruder in the preparation of an isocyanate prepolymer mixture; (3) a method (I) of producing compact or cellular polyurethane containing oligo- and/or polysaccharide(s) from an isocyanate prepolymer mixture; (4) the polyurethane per se; and (5) mouldings made from the polyurethane.
