Abstract: The invention relates to the preparation of a titanium-containing catalyst component (1) for Ziegler catalyst systems, by reacting (1.1) in a first step (1.1.1) a preparation of (1.1.1.1) a titanium compound (I) and (1.1.1.2) a liquid alkane (II) and (1.1.2) a homogeneous solution of (1.1.2.1) a benzene hydrocarbon (III), (1.1.2.2) trichloroacetic acid (IV) and (1.1.2.3) magnesium ethylate (V) with one another, giving a suspended solid (VI), and then (1.2) in a second step isolating the solid (VI), washing it with an alkane (VII) and drying it, the resultant solid being the catalyst component (1), characterised in that (I) employed in (1.1.1) under (1.1.1.1) is a finely divided titanium compound of the formula TiCl3 . x AlCl3, where x = from 0.15 to 0.40, and (III) employed in (1.1.2) under (1.1.2.1) is toluene.

Abstract: The invention relates to the homopolymerisation and copolymerisation of alpha -monoolefins by means of a Ziegler catalyst system comprising (1) a titanium catalyst component obtained by (1.1) in a first step (1.1.1) reacting a preparation of (1.1.1.1) a titanium compound (I) and (1.1.1.2) a liquid alkane (II) and (1.1.2) a homogeneous solution of (1.1.2.1) a benzene hydrocarbon (III), (1.1.2.2) trichoroacetic acid (IV) and (1.1.2.3) magnesium ethylate (V) with one another, giving a suspended solid (VI), and then (1.2) in a second step isolating the solid (VI), washing it with an alkane (VII) and drying it; the solid obtained here is the catalyst component (1) and (2) an aluminium catalyst component which is conventional in this context, characterised in that (1) is a titanium catalyst component obtained by employing as (I) in (1.1.1) under (1.1.1.1) a finely divided titanium compound of the formula TiCl3 . xAlCl3 , where x is 0.15 to 0.40, and, as (III) in (1.1.2) under (1.1.2.1), toluene.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of homopolymers and copolymers of propylene by means of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst system comprising (1) a certain titanium halide (titanium trichloride/aluminium chloride cocrystallizate), (2) a certain oxygen compound (ester), (3) an alkylaluminium compound and (4) a certain phenolic substance, which is characterised in that, in a separate process step, the polymer is homogenised and extruded without other interim treatment together with small amounts of (A) a complex compound of formula [Mg1-xAlx(OH)2+x.m'H2O]n, where x = 0.1 to 0.5, m' = 0 to 2, and n' = 3 to 12, (B) pentaerythrityl tetrakis [3-(3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)]propionate, (C) tetrakis (2,4-di-t-butylphenyl)-4,4-diphenyl diphosphonite, and (D) calcium stearate, with melting of the polymer, giving polymers which have particularly good applicational properties.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of homopolymers and copolymers of alpha -monoolefins by polymerizing the monomer or monomers with a Ziegler catalyst system comprising (1) a titanium-containing catalyst component and (2) a relevant conventional organo-aluminum compound, (1.1) the catalyst component (1) having been prepared by (1.1.1) milling a titanium compound (I) of the formula TiCl3.z(AlCl3) or ClmTi(OB)4-m, where z is from 0 to 0.5, m is from 0 to 3 and B is alkyl, together with (1.1.2) a magnesium alcoholate (II) and, if desired, (1.1.3) a metal chloride (III) of the formula AlCl3, ZnCl2 or MnCl2, to form a milled product (IV), in which polymerization process a catalyst component (1) is employed, in the preparation of which (1.2) the milled product (IV) obtained according to (1.1) is brought together, in an additional step (1.2.1), with (1.2.2) an alkanol (V) and (1.2.3) a liquid alkane (VI), to form a suspension (VII), and thereafter (1.3), in a further additional step (1.3.1), there is added, to the suspension (VII) obtained according to (1.2), (1.3.2) a metal compound (VIII) of a certain type, the metal being aluminum, silicon or titanium, while preserving the suspension state, the product (IX), which results from stage (1.3) and is present as a solid phase in the suspension, constituting the titanium-containing catalyst component (1).
