Abstract: The alkoxylate mixture contains 0.1 to 99.9 wt. % of at least one alkoxylate of general formula (I) CnH2n+1O(A)x(B)yH, wherein: A represents ethyleneoxy; B represents C3-C10 alkyleneoxy or mixtures thereof, whereby groups A and B ca n exist in a statistically distributed or alternating form or in the form of t wo or more blocks arranged in any order; n represents a whole number ranging fr om 8 to 11; x represents a number ranging from 1 to 20, and; y represents a number ranging from 0 to 10. The alkoxylate mixture also contains 0.1 to 99. 9 wt. % of at least one alkoxylate of general formula (II) CmH2m+1O(A)v(B)wH, wherein: A represents ethyleneoxy; B represents C3-C10 alkyleneoxy or mixtur es thereof, whereby groups A and B can exist in a statistically distributed or alternating form or in the form of two or more blocks arranged in any order; m represents a whole number ranging from 12 to 24; v represents a number rangi ng from 1 to 50, and; w represents a number ranging from 0 to 10.

The invention further relates to mixtures from C2- 5 alkoxylates of C4-8 alkylgycols or -diglycols that have an average alkoxylation degree of 1 to 8 and tensides that have an interfacial tension of less than 45 mN/m at 20 ~C when dissolved in an amount of 5 g/l of water, and/or to diyhdroxyalkins or derivatives thereof.

Abstract: The invention relates to secondary C 10 to C 18 surfactant alcohols of the general formula (I), wherein R represents methyl or ethyl and R' represents a linear or branched alkyl group with 6-13 C atoms, excepting 5-ethyl-2-nonanol and 6-ethyl-3-decanol, in addition to fatty alcohol alkoxylates, alkyl phosphates, alkyl sulphates, alkyl ether phosphates and alkyl ether sulphates. The secondary C 10 to C 18 surfactant alcohols can be produced by a simple aldol condensation of linear or branched saturated or unsaturated C 7 -C 14 aldehyde excepting 2-ethyl hexanal, with acetone or methyl ethyl ketone and the subsequent hydrogenation of the condensation product. In the preferred method, the aldol condensation is heterogenically catalyzed under hydrogenation conditions and the saturated ketone that has been formed is subsequently hydrogenated

Abstract: The invention describes a process for the preparation of surfactant alcohols and surfactant alcohol ethers which are, inter alia, highly suitable as surfactants or for the preparation of surfactants. The process, starting from olefin mixtures having a defined minimum content of linear hexenes, gives mixtures having a predominant fraction of branched dodecenes, which are subsequently derivatized to give surfactant alcohols and then optionally alkoxylated. The surfactant alcohol mixture obtained in the process has a degree of branching of from 2.0 to 3.0 and in particular exhibits advantageous properties as regards ecotoxicity and biodegradability. A description is also given of the use of the surfactant alcohols and surfactant alcohol ethers as surfactants by glycosidation or polyglycosidation, sulfation or phosphation.

Abstract: The invention describes a process for the preparation of surfactant alcohols and surfactant alcohol ethers which are, inter alia, highly suitable as surfactants or for the preparation of surfactants. The process, starting from olefin mixtures which comprise less than 30% by weight of linear hexene isomers and utilizing a catalyst which contains nickel, prepares olefin mixtures having a predominant fraction of branched dodecenes, which are subsequently derivatized to give surfactant alcohols and then optionally alkoxylated.The invention further relates to the use of the surfactant alcohols and surfactant alcohol ethers for the preparation of surfactants by glycosidation or polyglycosidation, sulfation or phosphation.
