Applications: fabrication d'alcools de haute pureté avec un bon rendement par réduction.

    Abstract: A process for producing desulfurized fats and oils or fatty acid esters, which are highly suitable as a starting material for producing alcohols via hydrogenation, at a high yield is disclosed. Desulfurized fats and oils or fatty acid esters are obtained by contacting fats and oils or fatty acid esters with a catalyst represented by the following formula (I) under a hydrogen atmosphere or a mixture of hydrogen with an inert gas: Ni.CuxOy(I) wherein x represents an atomic ratio of Cu determined by referring Ni as 1 and a value of from 0.02 to 8; and y is an atomic ratio of oxygen satisfying the valence requirements of Ni and Cu. A process for producing alcohols using the desulfurized fats and oils or fatty acid esters is also disclosed. A process for producing an alcohols using desulfurized fats and oils or fatty acid esters is also disclosed. According to the process for producing an alcohol of the present invention, an alcohol of a high purity and good qualities can efficiently and effectively be produced.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To very efficiently produce a high-quality ester from a fatty acid and an alcohol by preparing a heterogeneous system catalyst which contains aluminum orthophosphate, and has a specified volume of pores of a specified diameter and a specific amount of an acid. SOLUTION: This heterogeneous system catalyst which is used for esterification reaction of a fatty acid and an alcohol is prepared in such a way that aluminum orthophosphate is contained and that a pore is 6-100 nm in diameter and 0.46 ml or more in volume and that acid volume is 0.40 mmol/g or more. A method for preparing the catalyst is preferably sedimentation which is performed by dropping an alkali such as an ammonia solution to an aqueous solution of aluminum salt mixed with orthophosphoric acid, and the desired catalyst is obtained in such a manner that the resulting sediment is treated by filtering, washing with wafer, drying, baking, and the like thereof. The composition of the catalyst is preferably within a range of 1:3-1:0.1 of the atomic ratio of aluminum atom to phosphorus atom.

Next, this carrier is baked, if necessary, and is allowed to carry a metal oxide having a composition of the elements of the IIa group and IIIb group of the periodic table of CuO/ZnO=100/(0 to 25)/(0 to 25) at a ratio of the metal oxide/carrier (weight ratio)=15/85 to 65/35. Thus, a highly active and highly selective catalyst precursor can be obtained at low cost.
