Abstract: Provided are an on-channel repeater and a method thereof. The repeater receives signals on one channel and distributes the signals on the same channel by converting RF signals from a main transmitter into baseband signals; equalizing them in a high-performance equalizer; adding a repeater identifier to them; modulating the baseband signals with the repeater identifier into RF signals. The repeater includes: a receiver for receiving RF signals; a demodulator for demodulating the RF signals into baseband signals; an equalizer for equalizing the baseband signals; an adder for adding a repeater identifier to the baseband signals; a modulator for modulating the baseband signals with the repeater identifier added in the adder into RF signals; and a transmitter for transmitting the RF signals modulated in the modulator. The technology of the present invention is used to form an on-channel repeating network in an arbitrary transmission system including a digital television broadcasting system.

Abstract: Provided are a Vestigial Side Band (VSB) Digital Television (DTV) transmitter and receiver based on the Advanced Television System Committee (ATSC) A/53, and a method thereof. The present invention provides 8-VSB DTV transmitter and receiver that can improve reception performance of the receiver by transmitting and receiving robust data mixed with P-2VSB, E-4VSB, and/or E-8VSB. The DTV transmitter includes an input means for receiving a digital video data stream including normal data and robust data; an encoding means for coding the digital video data stream into data symbols; and a transmitting means for modulating and transmitting an output signal of the encoding means, wherein the encoding means performs trellis coding on the robust data by sequentially applying a plurality of trellis coding methods.

Abstract: Se proporcionan un repetidor de canal activo y un metodo del mismo. El repetidor recibe las senales en un canal y distribuye las senales en el mismo canal mediante convertir las senales RF desde un transmisor principal en las senales de banda base; ecualizandolas en un ecualizador de alto rendimiento, agregando un identificador del repetidor a ellas, modulando las senales de banda base con el identificador del repetidor en las senales RF. El repetidor incluye: un receptor para recibir las senales RF; un demodulador para demodular las senales RF en las senales de banda base, un ecualizador para ecualizar las senales de banda base; un agregador para agregar un identificador del repetidor a las senales de banda base, un modulador para modular las senales de banda base con el identificador del repetidor agregado en el agregador en base senales RF y un transmisor para transmitir las senales RF moduladas en el modulador. La tecnologia de la presente invencion se usa para formar una red de repeticion de canal activo en un sistema de transmision arbitrario incluyendo un sistema de transmision de television digital.

The five sensory data synchronizing and transmitting apparatus and method forms packets by describing vibration, an odor and a taste expressed in video/audio based on touch, odor and taste data descriptors and synchronizes the touch/odor/taste packets with video/audio packets on a frame basis; and then, the actual-feeling multimedia data providing system and method demultiplexes the received packets transmitted from the five sensory data synchronizing and transmitting apparatus into video data, audio data, touch data, odor data and taste data and transmits them to corresponding devices to thereby provide a user with an actual-feeling multimedia service.
