    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a carbonyl group-containing compound by a new reaction of treating trans-stilbene, alpha-vinylnaphthalene, beta-vinylnaphthalene, indene, etc., with an O2-containing gas using a specific vanadium compound as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:trans-Stilbene, alpha-methylstyrene, alpha-vinylnaphthalene, beta- vinylnaphthalene, indene or a lower alkyl group and/or lower alkoxy group nuclear substitution substance thereof is reacted with an O2-containing gas using at least one selected from vanadium compounds shown by formula I to formula X as a catalyst preferably in the presence of a synthetic zeolite to give a carbonyl group-containing compound. The carbonyl group-containing compound is useful as a raw material for drugs and agricultural chemicals.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily obtain the subject compound in high conversion and yield by using a specific vanadium compound as a catalyst and contacting a specific alicyclic olefin with an O2-containing gas in the presence of a primary alcohol, etc., thereby oxidizing the olefin under mild condition. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound is produced by contacting and oxidizing an alicyclic olefin of formula I [R and R are each H, alkyl, benzoyloxymethyl, benzoyloxyethyl or R and R together form a (double-bond) ring] (e.g. 2- norbornene) with an O2-containing gas in the presence of a primary and/or secondary alcohol (e.g. isopropanol) using a vanadium compound catalyst of formula III (R and R are each lower alkyl, aryl or alkoxycarbonyl; R is lower alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, H, halogen, etc.; R and R may together form a ring) (e.g. the compound of formula II). The conversion of the objective compound can be further improved by carrying out the reaction in the presence of a synthetic zeolite.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress production of highly condensed product and isomer and selectively obtain 4,4'-methylene dianiline, by reacting aniline with formaldehyde raw material in the presence of catalyst of dealuminated Y type zeolite. CONSTITUTION:Aniline is reacted with formaldehyde raw material using a dealuminated Y type zeolite as a catalyst at 20-300 deg.C for 0.1-40hr to provide the aimed product. The dealuminated Y type zeolite is a zeolite obtained by subjecting a Y type zeolite to dealuminum treatment and has 5.5-20 SiO2/Al2O3 (molar ratio). The formaldehyde raw material is formaldehyde-containing raw material capable of reacting with aniline, e. g., formalin aqueous solution, trioxane or N,N'-diphenylmethylenediamine.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance useful as a raw material for polymers, intermediate for dyes, medicines.agricultural chemicals, etc., in high conversion, by reacting an aromatic hydrocarbon with an alkylating agent in the presence of a mordenite type zeolite catalyst treated with a fluorine-containing compound. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic hydrocarbon, particularly biphenyl is reacted with an alkylating agent, e.g. olefin, aliphatic lower alcohol or alkyl halide, in the presence of a mordenite type zeolite catalyst, preferably hydrogen ion exchange type treated with a fluorine-containing compound in the vapor or liquid phase to afford the titled substance. The above-mentioned catalyst is obtained by a method for treating, e.g. dipping mordenite type zeolite in a 5-20wt.% aque ous hydrofluoric acid, etc., for 2-10hr and firing the zeolite in an inert gas atmosphere, bringing the mordenite zeolite into contact with a gaseous fluorine- containing compound, e.g. CFCl3, etc., at 300-600 deg.C, etc. The reaction tempera ture is 200-250 deg.C for the vapor phase or 150-250 deg.C for the liquid phase.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain the subject corresponding hydroperoxide in high selectivity at high conversion rate by oxidizing an arylalkyl hydrocarbon with an oxygen- contg. gas in the presence of a catalyst such as ruthenium oxide. CONSTITUTION: This hydroperoxide is obtained by reaction of a compound of the formula (P and Q are each H or an alkyl; n is 1-3; Ar is a n-valent aromatic hydrocarbon) with an oxygen-contg. gas (e.g. air) under normal pressures at 40-120 deg.C in the presence of a catalyst, a ruthenium oxide or a ruthenium compound having Ru-O-Ru structure. The ruthenium oxide or ruthenium compound as the catalyst are e.g. ruthenium dioxide or μ-oxo-diacetato-bis(tripyridylruthenium), respectively. The amount of the catalyst to be used is 0.00001-10 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the compound of the formula.

CONSTITUTION: This hydroperoxide is obtained by oxidizing 100 pts.wt. of a compound of the formula (P and Q are each H or an alkyl; (x) is 1-3; Ar is a x-valent aromatic hydrocarbon) with an oxygen-contg. gas(e.g. air) under atmospheric pressure a t 40-120 deg.C in the presence of 0.00001-5 pts.wt. of a catalyst, a transition metal complex salt of formula M m[M Xn] (M is a cation such as of Fe, Mn, Co, Cu or Ru; X is an anion such as of cyan or halide; M is a cation such as of alkali metal or tetraalkylammonium; n is 1-10; m is 0-5). The catalyst may be used as it is or in the form of an aqueous solution.
