    Abstract: PURPOSE:A polyamide, obtained by using 1,2-bis(2-chlorophenoxy)ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid as a dicarboxylic acid, and having a high rigidity and improved flame retardancy and moisture absorption resistance.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain titled composition of improved impact, heat, and hydrolysis resistance and weatherability, by incorporating specific olefin copolymer in polyethylene-1,2-bis(2-chlorophenoxy)ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylate. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be obtained by incorporating (A) 100pts.wt. of polyethylene-1,2-bis(2-chlorophenoxy)ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylate with (B) 0.5-30 (pref. 2-15)pts.wt. of an olefin polymer consisting of (i) alpha-olefin (e.g. ethylene) and (ii) 1-50 (pref. 1-20)wt% of alpha,beta-unsaturated acid glycidyl ester of formula (R is H or lower alkyl) (e.g. glycidyl methacrylate). Further incorporation of 1-15pts.wt. of either a copolymer made up of ethylene and >=3C alpha-olefin or terpolymer consisting of said two monomers and non-conjugated diene would be more effective.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide excellent adhesive strength to a plating film to a thermoplastic polyester resin molding contg. polybutyrene terephthalate and titanium dioxide having specific grain sizes at a specific ratio by subjecting said molding to a surface roughening treatment with an alkali soln. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic polyester resin molding is formed by incorporating 10-250pts.wt. titanium oxide having 1-6mu average grain size to 100pts.wt. polybutyrene terephthalate and is subjected to a surface roughening treatment with an alkali soln. The polybutyrene terephthalate is a polymer formed by condensation polymn. of a dicarboxylic acid component of which about >=90mol% is a terephthalic acid component and a diol component consisting essentially of 1,4-butanediol. The alkali treating soln. is preferably an aq. soln. dontg. sodium hydroxide. The molding is treated for about 1-120min at about 30-95 deg.C and is washed. The molding having good adhesion to a metallic plating film and excellent surface brightness is thus obtd.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A novel copolymer polyester providing a polymer having high polymerization degree only by melt polymerization, having improved molding properties, providing a molded article having high strength and high modulus of elasticity. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer polyester consisting of 20-50mol% carboxylate unit shown by the formula I and 80-50wt% carboxylate unit shown by the formula II. To obtain the copolymer polyester, preferably a polyethylene-1,2- bis(2-chlorophenoxy)ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylate having 0.4-1.20 intrinsic viscosity is reacted with an acyloxy aromatic carboxylic acid and subjected to polycondensation. p-Acyloxybenzoic acid and/or 6-acyloxy-2-naphthoic acid is used as the acyloxy aromatic carboxylic acid.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a polyester hot-melt adhesive powder which can be bonded over a wide temperature range, gives a joint having excellent hand and has good resistance to washing by hot water, by blending a fine oxide powder with a specified copolyester powder. CONSTITUTION:A copolyester composed of a dicarboxylic acid component consisting of 20-79mol% of a terephthalic acid residue, 1-30mol% of a metal sulfoisophthalate residue and 79-20mol% of an isophthalic acid residue and/or a 3-36C aliph. dicarboxylic acid residue and a glycol component consisting of an ethylene glycol residue and/or 1,4-butanediol residue and having a m.p. of 180 deg.C or below, an MFR (190 deg.C of 1-40 and a particle size having such a distribution that 80wt% or less particles pass through a 177mu sieve, is used. 0.005-0.2pts.wt. at least one member selected from among fine powders (having an average particle size of 3-80mum) of silicon oxide, aluminum oxide and titanium oxide is blended with said polyester powder.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled copolymer capable of providing a molding of high modulus and good flexural and impact strengths, containing specified dicarboxylate units and ethylene terephthalate units as the principal structural units at a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:The titled melt-moldable copolymer contains 25-75mol% (A) ethylene 1,2-bis(2-chlorophenoxy)ethylene-4,4'-dicarboxylate units and 75-25mol% (B) ethylene terephthalate units as principal stuructural components. While polyethylene phthalate has heretofore been widely used in, for example, tire cords in the form of fiber and magnetic tapes in the form of film, and the enhancement of its modulus has been demanded, this demand could not be satisfied. The imparting of a high modulus becomes possible by forming a copolymer containing units A in the above range.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a film with a high strength and a better running property for magnetic tapes or the like by heat treatment of a film comprising polyethylene alpha,beta-bis(2-chlorophenoxy)ethane 4,4'-dicarboxylate or the like on a specified condition after biaxial stretching thereof. CONSTITUTION:An unstretched film comprising polyether ester containing more than 85mol% of polyethylene alpha,beta-bis(2-chlorophenoxy)ethane 4,4'-dicarboxylate with the density of 1.42-1.46 is uniaxially stretched so as to range 0.06-0.23 in the double refraction within the surface of the film and 1.44-1.46 in the density and then, stretched at the right angle to this direction to make a biaxially stretched film. Then, the film thus obtained undergoes a heat treatment so as to range 1.45-1.49 in the density and 1.51-1.56 in the refractive index thicknesswise to obtain the intended film.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound in high yield, by reacting an alpha,omega- bis(phenoxy)alkane-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid which is a raw material for a polyester as a starting material with chlorine in a 2-6C halogenated lower fatty acid as a solvent.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare 4,4'-diphenyldicarboxylic acid of high purity efficiently, by converting crude 4,4'-diphenyldicarboxylic acid into a dialkali salt thereof, filtering the resultant dialkali salt, separating and washing the salt, and disproportionating or depositing the purified 4,4'-diphenyldicarboxylic acid with an acid. CONSTITUTION:Crude 4,4'-diphenyldicarboxylic acid is dissolved in an aqueous solution of an alkali, e.g. KOH, to form an aqueous solution of the dialkali 4, 4-diphenyldicarboxylate, which is then filtered to remove inorganic impurities. The resultant filtrate is then reacted with gaseous carbon dioxide to deposit the monoalkali 4,4-diphenyldicarboxylate, which is then separated washed and then disproportionated or deposited with an acid to isolate and recover the aimed purified 4,4'-diphenyldicarboxylic acid. EFFECT:An easy means utilizing the water solubility of the dialkali salt and the slight water solubility of the monoalkali salt.
