    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve resolution of the whole picture area, by newly inserting an auxiliary electrode to be A.C.-grounded, between a focusing electrode composing color picture tube and an intermediate electrode adjoining thereto. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary electrode Gs is newly placed between the 5th grid G5 and an intermediate electrode Gm1 composing an electron gun. Thus capacitance C5s, Cmm, and Cm6 are generated between respective electrodes: the grid G5, auxiliary electrode Gs, intermediate electrodes Gm1 and Gm2, and 6th grid G6. Especially, it means that the capacitance C5s is grounded through a capacitance CCRT of a picture tube itself formed by an inner conductive film and an outer conductive film of the picture tube. On the other hand, the capacitance Csm between the electrode Gs and Gm1, and the capacitance are turned into a short circuit state with a lead wire connecting the electrode Gs and the grid G6. An A.C. voltage component 10a shaped in palabola applied to the grid G5 is thus not inducted to electrodes Gm1 and Gm2, and only appropriate D.C. voltage is applied to the electrodes Gm1 and Gm2.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a small beam spot with no distortion as desired, by locating No.3 electrode through position alignment of at least two tooling holes, or through detaining of at least two tooling holes with at least two tooling bosses. CONSTITUTION:At least two tooling holes 34, 25 for position alignment of No.3 electrode 30 relative to No.1 electrode G5 are formed in each of the No.1 and No.3 electrodes G5, 30; otherwise, at least two tooling holes 35 for locating the No.3 electrode relative to the No.1 electrode G5 are formed in either of the No.1 and No.3 electrodes G5, 30 wile at least two tooling bosses 41 to detain with these tooling holes are formed int the other. The No.3 electrode 30 is located through position alignment of these at least two holes 34, 35, or detention of at least two holes 35 with at least two tooling bosses 41. Thereby a small beam spot can be formed equipped with no distortion as desired.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve deterioration of the focus characteristic of a color picture tube device at the center portion of a screen by varying the vertical-to-horizontal aperture ratio of a center beam through hole from that of each of a pair of side beam through holes. CONSTITUTION:The vertical-to-horizontal aperture ratio phiVC/phiHC of the center- beam through hole 28G of at least one electrode G3 of a pair of opposite electrodes G3, G4 constituting a main electron lens is made smaller (or larger) than that phiVS/phiHS of each of the pair of side beam through holes 28B, 28R of the electrode G, to which electrode G3 a relatively low or high voltage is applied. As a result, the form of the beam spot of each electron beam at the center portion of a screen generated by a magnetic field which a permanent magnet disposed between a deflecting device and the main electron lens generates is cancelled out and converted into almost a circle. The focus characteristic of a color picture tube device at the center portion of the screen is thus improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a better picture image on the whole surface of a picture plane by changing the strength of an electron lense with synchronizing with the deflection of an electron beam during one scanning period of the deflection scanning of the electron beam. CONSTITUTION:Prescribed voltage is supplied to intermediate electrodes 70 and 80 with a resistor 100, and a variable resistor 105 is connected to the lower end of the resistor 100 to permit the variation of the voltage of the electrodes 70 and 80. A main lense is formed with a fifth electrode 50, the intermediate electrodes 70 and 80, and a sixth electrode 60 to focus the electron beam on a picture plane. The curvature of an equpotential line in a vertical direction becomes smaller than that in a horizontal direction by the effect of the electrode 50 side wall, and a focussing action in the vertical direction becomes stronger than that in the horizontal direction. Consequently the changing of focusing voltage permits giving distortion, so as to offset deflection distortion, to the electron beam to obtain a better picture image in the whole surface of the picture plane.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the thermal breakage of the resistance by using plural number of a support for supporting each electrode of an electron gun at least one support of which has a step in the longitudinal section so as to form a thin section and a thick section and by inserting the resistance into said thin section. CONSTITUTION:The electron gun comprises an electron-beam-producing part 5, a main lens part for focusing a beam which consists of electrodes 11-15, electrode supports 2a and 2b for the electrodes 11-15 and a thin-plate-like resistance 3. The longitudinal section of the electrode support 2b extending along the axis of the beam has a step 60 which divides the support 3b into a thin section and a thick section. The resistance 3 is attached to the thin section to apply necessary voltage to each electrode. Because of the above structure, it is possible to secure a sufficient space for the resistance 3 and therefore the resistance 3 can be large enough. Consequently, it is possible to effectually prevent the thermal breakage of the electron gun.

CONSTITUTION:A fourth grid 14 is inserted into three reference pins 50a, 50b, 50c. Next, a horseshoe shaped first spacer 81 is placed at the staircase portion of a fourth grid 14 and a horseshoe shaped second spacer 82 is placed on the first spacer 81. Next, the one of auxiliary electrodes 20 is inserted in such a way that an aperture is aligned with the staircase portion 801 of horseshoe shaped spacer 82, and the one auxiliary electrode is placed thereon. Next, a horseshoe shaped spacer 83 of the second staircase portion is placed so that it is aligned with the aperture of electrode and the first horseshoe shaped spacer 84 is placed thereon. Thereafter, these spacers are inserted so that the staircase portion of third grid 13 is aligned with the horseshoe shaped spacer. After pressurization, an electrode support rod which is partly thermally fused is bonded with pressure and is then hardened by cooling. Thereafter, first the first spacers 81, 84 are pulled and then spacers 82, 83 are pulled.

CONSTITUTION:The third to the fifth grids 23, 24 and 25 are used to form an auxiliary electron lens. The fifth and the sixth grids 25 and 26 are used to form a main electron lens. The auxiliary electron lens and the main electron lens are called a main electron lens system and focus an electron beam on the picture screen of a picture tube. On an area of the inner surface of the neck corresponding to the fifth grid 25, a neck conductive film 32 is formed which is extended to around an area of the inner surface of the neck corresponding to a gap between the fifth and the sixth grids 25 and 26. Facing the neck conductive film 32, a bead-glass conductive film 31 is formed on the surface of a bead glass 27 near the gap between the fifth and the sixth grids 25 and 26. The bead-glass conductive film 31 is electrically connected to a conductive lead wire 30, which is wound around the bead glass 27 and connected to the fifth grid 25, such as a stainless weire for example.

In the electron gun 26, the voltage lower than that of the intermediate electrode Gm2 of the sixth electrode G6 side is applied to the intermediate electrode Gm1 of a fifth electrode G5 side to form a focusing electric field near the intermediate electrode Gm1. Furthermore, a curvature in the vertical direction is large in the intermediate electrode Gm1, and electron beams receive the focusing work relatively strong in the vertical direction near the intermediate electrode Gm1.
