Peptides possessing LHRH antagonistic activity, and useful for controlling the release of LHRH in mammals are decapeptide analogues of LHRH having a lactam group at the N-terminus of formula (I), where n is 1, 2, or 3 and R is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, benzyl, 4-chlorobenzyl, 2-methylnaphth-1-yl, 1-methylnaphth-2-yl, and quinolin-3-ylmethyl.
Abstract:
A valve including a substantially ridig cannula and a valve member positioned for operable communication with the cannula. The valve member is formed from a substantially resilient material, having a slit extending therethrough, and movable with respect to the cannula between a first closed position and a second open position. The slit is substantially closed by the resiliency of the material of the valve member when the valve member is positioned in the first closed position and the cannula cooperates to extend through the slit during movement of the valve member from the first closed position to the second open position to establish a fluid flow path through the cannula and the valve member. A sealing member is also provided independant from a flow of fluid within the fluid flow path to provide positive sealing of the slit when the valve member is positioned in the first closed position.
Abstract:
This invention pertains to an intravenous infusion set and in particular, a winged needle assembly used for venipuncture having an integral hollow tubular protective member to reduce accidental needle sticks from such infusion set. The tubular member has a slot engagable by the wing on the rotatable hub and needle. Once aligned, the winged hub is pulled back into the slot and disengages at a lock-out position. The lateral notch retains the hub and needle within the tubular member.
Abstract:
A method and system for sterilizing heat sensitive drugs which prevent degradation of the drug from heat and its associated by-products where the method includes providing separate relatively less heat sensitive component solutions of the drug for independent heat sterilization and then transferring the sterilized component solutions to a holding tank where they are mixed to form a final solution constituting the desired drug thereby avoiding heating of the final solution or drug and its possible degradation.
Abstract:
A compound of formula (I), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, as well as processes for and intermediates in the preparation thereof, and methods and compositions for antagonizing endothelin.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to analytical devices for determining the presence or amount of an analyte in a test sample. The analytical devices comprise an inlet port, a vent, a channel, and an array of structures. The structures have immobilized reagent covalently or non-covalently attached to the surface of the structures. The immobilized reagent captures analyte in the test sample where it is detected by a detection system. The present invention also provides methods and reagents for performing assays utilizing the analytical devices of the present invention. The present invention also provides methods of manufacturing the analytical devices of the present invention.
Abstract:
A waveguide binding assay method involves detecting the scattering of light directed into the waveguide, the scattering being the result of scattering labels specifically bound to the waveguide within the penetration depth of an evanescent wave. The waveguide may be transparent plastic or glass and the binding is typically by oligonucleotide hybridization or immunological capture. Light scattering labels include colloidal metals or non-metals, including gold, selenium and latex. A light absorbing member consisting of dye or concentrated particles may also be employed to enhance signal. Real-time binding and dissociation can be monitored visually or by video imaging, such as with a CCD camera and frame grabber software. Hybridization mismatches of as few as one base can be distinguished by real-time melting curves.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for treating the surface of a polymeric material of an assay device to increase the sensitivity of diagnostic assays and screening assays. The method involves the treatment of the surface of the polymeric material with unseparated oxygen plasma to increase the binding capability of an analyte or analyte-binding member to such surface. The treated polymeric material is utilized as a diagnostic assay device or screening assay device for determining the amount or presence of an analyte or analyte-binding member in a test sample.
