    Abstract: A process for the preparation of a thermoplastic moulding composition comprising 80 - 50% by weight of a hard matrix of an anionic polymerised vinylaromatic compound and 20 - 50% by weight of a soft phase uniformly distributed in the hard matrix, in each case based on the sum of the hard matrix and the soft phase, characterised in that, in a first step, an elastomeric block copolymer based on a vinylaromatic compound and an alkadiene is polymerised anionically in a weight ratio of 5:95 to 55:45, the living ends of the chain are optionally blocked, and, with a re-addition of an anionic initiator and with stirring, the vinylaromatic compound is polymerised in the presence of the block copolymer and the living ends of the chain are finally blocked again.

Preferably (A) is a vinyl aromatic based polymer, a block copolymer consisting of a block of vinyl aromatic monomers and a block of conjugated dienes, preferably polystyrene or polystyrene-polybutadiene. (B) is a copolymer of styrene and acrylonitrile. (B) is titrated with a solution of a organometallic compound, preferably s-butyllithium before mixing with (A) in ethyl benzene.

    Abstract: Rubber-elastic block copolymers of at least one hard block A consisting of styrene monomers and at least one elastomeric block (B/A) of styrene monomers and containing dienes, the glass temperature Tg of block A being over 25 DEG C and that of block B/A is under 25 DEG C and the phase volume ratio between block A and block B/A being such that the proportion of the hard phase in the entire block copolymer is 1 to 40 vol %, and the proportion by weight of the diene is under 50 wt.%. The relative proportion of 1,2 bonds of the polydiene in relation to the sum of 1,2 and 1,4 cis/trans-bonds is under 15 %, process for their production by anionic polymerisation by means of lithium alkyl in a non-polar solvent in the presence of a soluble potassium salt and their use for the production of mouldings.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a molding material based - relative to the molding material formed by A and B - on 60 to 98 wt.% hard matrix A of polymerized or copolymerized units of at least one vinyl aromatic monomer or at least one vinyl aromatic monomer and at least one polar comonomer and on 2 to 40 wt.% soft phase B formed from a hydrogenated or unhydrogenated block copolymer produced by anionic polymerization and consisting of a vinyl aromatic monomer V and a diene D which has at least one statically or quasi-statically structured block (V/D) of vinyl aromatic monomer and diene and contains 10 to 80 wt.% matrix material (a) occlusions formed during the polymerization of hard matrix A in the presence of the block rubber. Disclosed also is the use of this molding material to produce foils, plates or moldings.
