Abstract: PURPOSE: A display method of a flash code for a check engine lamp is provided to cut down expenses by substituting an L-line with logic of an engine ECU(Electronic Control Unit), and to use conveniently by simplifying the structure. CONSTITUTION: Failure of an engine ECU is displayed with lighting on an engine check lamp in detecting troubles of the engine ECU, and K-line ground control is checked with the engine ECU. The ECU checks turning of an ignition key and connection of a tester, and detects vehicle speed. Satisfying of conditions is decided, and the flash code corresponding to defective parts is displayed with blinking the lamp by inputting the signal from the ECU in satisfying the entire conditions. Defective parts are checked, and repaired according to the signal of the check engine lamp. Limp-home function of the engine ECU is performed in not satisfying entire conditions. Failure is diagnosed with the K-line by modifying the logic of the engine ECU. Expenses are reduced, and the structure is simplified.
